Got XP got Playback problems? Read This

Hi ppl,

Further to my post about skipping I figured it out, and it maybe relevant to any users of XP. :D

As you may know XP can share IRQ's among various devices, Go to:
Device Manager - View - Resources by type and expand the IRQ section.

How many devices share the IRQ with your sound card??
This knowledge-base article explains why:

In my case it was my High-Point Raid controller on my ABIT KT7 Raid. Every time the H/D buffered playback of audio would skip!

Solution was to disable the Raid controller and put my Disk on the ATA66 controller (oh the waste, my drive is ATA133!!)

You can manually try and setup the IRQ's via your BIOS but even when I did that (Sound card IRQ9) XP put it on IRQ11 again! Go figure. I Disabled Raid controller reboot... XP puts Sound card on IRQ5!! Now NO skipping! Geez u got to love to hate M$ :D

I hope this helps anyone that encounters poor playback in XP
