Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth!
Hey, I saw them last night in concert! And MAN was it good. I don't know if anyone else knows anything about them, but that's a BIG EVENT to have them play the same concert. And they can both still sing, amazingly (especially for DLR, who is getting hella old and a tad narsty :) ). Scary thing though, I went with two other people, and we were practically the only non-white-trash there.
Anyway, just wanted to share that with all the fans. I was hoping they'd do a song or two together, but they didn't attempt it. Oh well, maybe that's for the best. And I'm a bit disappointed because Sammy basically did "Right Here, Right Now" with JUST the keyboard. The whole song would have been kickass in concert, but no. He even had the audience sing most of the chorus. :hang: Overall though, it was three and a half whole hours of a ROCKIN GOOD TIME!!  |
I'm a big Van Halen fan. I heard about the Hagar-Roth tours on the radio, and I wish I could go. That would've been cool if they did songs together. Do u mean that one of them just sang and the other guy just sat and watched? It's too bad the Van Halen alumni always disagree so much with the other band members, or David Lee Roth would still be kickin' ass with the old band. I wish I was alive more in the 80's.
Right Now is a great song with that piano. Funny name for the album too: F.U.C.K. |
No, basically DLR opened for Sammy Hagar. He was on for about an hour, and then they changed sets and Sammy was up for a good two hours. It was quite a show!
About "Right Now"- yeah, the song is good with the keyboard, but they only played basically two verses and the chorus a few times, and no bridge. Drums would have been nice. I just love the beat so much, it would have been more powerful with the rest of the band. He kind of turned it into a ballad for the concert, which would have been fine if they had played the rest of it too. *shrug* I'm trying to remember what all they played... I know they did "Mas Tequila" "I Can't Drive 55" "Heavy Metal" "Pound Cake" and ummmm a few other big hits, but I don't remember all of em. David Lee Roth played "Beautiful Girls" "Girl You Really Got Me Now" (or whatever the name is lol) "Jump" "Runnin With the Devil" and I'm trying to remember if he did "Hot for Teacher" which I'm sure he must have, but now I'm not sure. I'll tell you though, his guitarist is amazing. I love lead guitar, and Sammy's was okay, but nothing compared to this guy. Other highlights- Sammy had the "Girls Gone Wild" video up on the screens for a few songs lol. We only saw a few people get kicked out for being too drunk/smoking too much weed. Geez, I haven't smelled pot since college, a year ago, and I'm like, "What's that smell? Ohhhhhhh." Nobody really got all that rowdy- I'm surprised. One thing that pissed us off though, Ticketmaster said the show started at 5:00, and the tickets said "party starts at 5 p.m." Well, party doesn't mean concert- the concert started at 8, so we had to sit around for three hours. It was worth it though! Nice nick btw :) |
The 2 of em are playing here at Fiddlers' Green next weekend.
With any kinda luck I'll get to go though I'm holding out for the Dio, Deep Purple, Scorpions show next month for my son's 14th. He's a huge Scorps fan:cool: |
Sweet, I'm hoping to go to the Scorpions concert here too. We're supposed to have a few really good bands here this summer- Cinderella, Deep Purple, Scorpions, Poison, and ummm one other I think. Plus Ozzfest.
You get Dio??!! NOT FAIR! I don't think they're coming here *sob* :( |
There are a lot of good shows coming to Philly this summer at the Tweeter Center. There are some rumors that Aerosmith may be coming in Aug.
Plus, there's DLR and Sammy Hagar, The Who w/Robert Plant (from Led Zeppelin), the Stones, and a bunch of some messed-up modern bands like Incubus. No offense to anyone, especially incubus*chick, but I just think they try to be cool too hard, and the singer can't sing. Also, Kid Rock came here a few weeks ago. Kid Rock = The Stoned Pimp That Americans Love:D Bawitaba a bang a dang diggy diggy diggy said the boogy said up jump the boogy. Now that's creativity at its best. BTW, I can't forget Ozzfest:) |
No opening band for the best trio to come out of Canada in August:

I'm just wondring, has anyone here seen Metallica's S&M DVD? I've been thinking about getting it. Should I?
|
It's very well put together! Unfortunately, you have to endure camerahog Lars:rolleyes:
It shows even further how well the symphony gels with Metallica. It's also probably the last time you can see Jason Newsted with that band. Anyone heard Jason's new band Echobrain? |

Jason doesn't seem like a very good bassist at all. Maybe that's why you can hardly ever hear him in any songs. Cliff was pretty good. I wonder if Metallica can manage w/o a bassist for very long. They'll need someone good and already popular to fill the big shoes. |

Jason is very prevolent on the albums that he did with Metallica though he was limited by Lars and James as to his level of input. Wanna hear Jason kick ass? Listen to some early "Flotsam & Jetsam" which is where he was drafted from. |
