Computer Cases

Well today, I wanted to buy a new case for my computer. I have been looking at http://www.colorcases.com for a while. They have cases that look very nice and cheap too. Then I did some homework and had a look over at http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2071.html and decided that it was a big disappointment. I still want a new case for my computer. I have looked at a couple places, but they are aluminum cases and cost like $150, which is way over my budget. So I need to find a place that sells ATX computer cases that look good and are somewhat cheap ($80 or less). Any recommendations?

i think it all depends on your location.check out some of your local puter stores.if you buy something online, you'll end up paying a little more:D
(that and your parents will shit when they find out about you using their c.c!

Nevermind. I found a very good case called Platinum XP at http://www.ahanix.com/platinumxp.html. Very nice. I ordered it from newegg.com

Bilbo Baggins 9th June 2002 23:09

Sweet mother, i want that.

KelseyB 9th June 2002 23:29

i was considering ordering this very one from colorcases, but with that i might order it from that other site, or that blue one.

when you get it, would you please tell me (us) how the process was?

(and) how you like the case

n_ick2000 10th June 2002 01:08

When I recieve my case, I will let you guys know.

I wish I could have got the one with the side window though. The only places that sold that model were companies that I have never heard of and I couldn't find any information them. Oh well, the model without the side windows still looks very nice. I can't wait until I get it.

LawnGnome2005 10th June 2002 11:12

noisy as fuck. but great fun.

Bilbo Baggins 10th June 2002 16:03

Just imagine if a girl straddled that, and she had a dress on...

fwgx 10th June 2002 16:08

I have the same case as zootm but without the blowholes in it. Will be modding it shortly when the bits arive. I can't wait :), I'll post a few pics when It'd done :).

Lian li also do factory mods on their cases if you can afford it. Also if you goto http://www.coolcasemods.com they will even do a proper paint job for you in your design.

rm' 10th June 2002 16:10

The best thing would be not to use a case at all, and just leave the parts in a hermetically sealed, military-quality Clean Room. That'd be uberleet

a guy in the flat below was actually using his computer in his room with no case up until like a month ago... he "couldn't afford one"...

fwgx 10th June 2002 16:21

I saw a guy who had attached one of those blow dryers that you get in toilets (withought the heating part) to his case and sealed the whole thing up. I think it ran pretty cool, if noisey and looked very uber with this huge great big fan blower screwed to the side :D

Water cooling is what I'd do if I could afford it.

Curi0us_George 10th June 2002 16:51

This is what I want.

I think the retail is supposed to be over 300, though. :(

liquidmotion 10th June 2002 18:04

doods! www.koolance.com, the black full server case with the window, add in a neon light, you've got yourself one hell of a case! and it's liquid-cooled :)

fwgx 10th June 2002 18:10

I want to eventually put a light under my case so it looks a bit like this:
http://www.coolcasemods.com/product_...4/ufoangle.jpg
But with this window and blowhole config:

With a blue cold cathode inside :o

wow! I'd love to have a case like that! The case i have now i so butt ugly!

But its got a smooth design and also has smooth buttons

/me rubs buttons ;)

Im presuming us British would have to import these cases in from the great ol' US then?

Nofx Guy 10th June 2002 19:43

at the comp store where i work there is 2 wall machines....one is jsut a small ghost machine and the other is our server...there both mounted on the wall..ther server has like 8 hd's all either raid or scsi...its quite cool...i will post pics soon...

oh stfu:p A real power user would still use an old stained beige case or none at all so they could work on stuff that matters

Bilbo Baggins 10th June 2002 20:25

Holy sweetness, a decent paint job service

/me is considering very carefully.

KelseyB 10th June 2002 22:19

soyo dragon ultra (platinum edition)

i want one of these so bad, then i will mod a case to show it off :D

very 1337 looking

n_ick2000 10th June 2002 22:22

There are a few cases at that colorcases.com place I would have liked to have, but I am glad I didn't order from them based on the reviews of the company.

not great, but i like it (it now has 2 extra fans in it)

Adil 11th June 2002 16:09

fans = noise = sux

my system works fine with only a power source fan and cpu fan... no noise and stable temperature.
WHY MORE FANS?

james 11th June 2002 16:37

And windows in a case? Why do you want a window? the innards of a computer are unavoidably ugly... nearly as bad as the outside! ;)

WHY MORE FANS?

Less likely to have heat problems, particularly when overclocking. In addition, running your components cooler than necessary will prolong their lives. This especially applies to hard drives.

fwgx 11th June 2002 17:53

Get some 80mm Evercools, they are all but silent. Also if you over clock they are absolutly required to keep the much higher temps in check. Or go for water cooling if you can afford it, that way you can get down to -18 temps :D

The hell you can. Water cooling won't get your system any cooler than room temp. I suppose you could get it colder if you put the radiator in the fridge, but that would still mean that you would be several degrees above freezing.

Maybe you are thinking of the Vapochill, but that's not water-cooling. It's a freezer for the processor.

(P.S. I wish this guy behind me would stop blowing his nose. He's noisy as hell, and I think it's rude to do that in the middle of a computer lab anyway.)
