How To Tweak Your Processor...

I was in a forum and somebody said I could easily tweak my pentium 233 to about 266. But he didn't explain how, if you know how I could tweak my processor, could you plz tell me how, and maybe give me a little direction on how to do this. Thx. :)

first, pop the case and tell us what mobo you have.
second, check your BIOS setup. Might be able to up the multiplier there.

????

Ok, first of all I have a laptop. Then, what is a mobo, where would I find this? I am not that smart with computers, and i don't wanna ruin my computer, so is this safe? (and no i'm not stupid or clumsy, so when I mean safe, I mean generally safe). And finally, what is my BIOS setup, where is this located??? I'm all ears...

well i wouldnt recommend oc'ing a laptop because the chip might heat up because its such an enclosed space..also i wouldnt recommend overclocking just because of your lack of PC knowledge ( no offence, i jsut dont want you to wreck your pc)

I tweaked my processor once and she sent me to the Dean's office. :p

On a more serious note, FYI, mobo means mother board. OC refers to overclocking, which is getting your processor to run faster than it's factory specs. Like NoFX Guy said, you probably need to have a good amount of computer knowlege to do this (more than I have, though my AMD Athlon 1100 has been running at 1103 on it's own since I got it).

Edit: This site has a lot of good info on computer related stuff if you ever have any questions about what people are talking about here. I use it often.

I wouldnt try overclocking a laptop if i was you. I thought you were talking about a desktop where the extra heat can be taken care of with fans that dont need to run off battery power.

I have seen it done once (ever seen a laptop with holes covered with mesh everywhere to allow for more airflow??) but IMO its just now worth messin with laptops. Adding ram or changing drives is about it. And since you've already got 128mb youre doing ok in that department.
