i just thought of something. on www.tk, it says that you need 30 visitors in 90 days or your domain gets cancled. i wonder if using the banner killing script will keep it from registering the number of visitors.

dude883 13th June 2002 19:11

hm, interesting... i won't use the script, the popup wasn't bugging me that much anyway.

FooMonkey and ripe, thanks for telling me about the url, i added the dot, should work now.

it could just be my computer, it is kinda crappy

This computer (my mum's) sometimes signs into the internet and then restarts, thats strange and scary.

dude883 14th June 2002 11:18

sounds like someone installed a spy program on your comp, u better check it netbuzz or something like that...

simon snowflake 14th June 2002 11:37

do you use kazaa?
kazaa can really f#ck up your system :(

TrueInsanity 14th June 2002 13:47

Anyone tryed Kazaa lite? no spyware, no adware alot better than the normal one:D

Atmo 14th June 2002 13:56

Kazaa lite is great....But theres a new version of kazaa out (getting the popup asking if i want to upgrade every time it starts), and im not sure if theres a new version of lite out yet.

As for dot.tk needing 30 hits in 90 days, im curious about whether the popup killer script would disable the counter too.

BlueBalls 14th June 2002 16:19

30 hits in 90 days? i hope a lot of people o to the web ring so i can get hits, im to lazy to promote my site =\

BTW: when do i get authorized for the wbe ring?

_Blackdog_ 14th June 2002 17:03

well i just found out that on your member page or whatever at www.tk, you can view your stats, so put up the code and then see if it still records people going to your site

simon snowflake 16th June 2002 13:41

and if it does, please feel free to share it :D

Atmo 16th June 2002 13:46

I'll try it...Thats if someone emails or pm's me the popup killer script.

I'll add it in once i've got my new site up and running.

caz 16th June 2002 20:12

could someone send me the script too? plz?

btw 883, could you stick a link to my site on yours when its finished? if I give you a small link image?

dude883 17th June 2002 09:58

finish your site, and i'll put the link on 883design.tk.

skinme! 17th June 2002 10:52

You all better be ashamed of yourselves trying to kill that popup. It's there for a reason - revenue. They're giving you use of a top-level domain name, with URL forwarding and email forwarding for free. All you have to do is have a little pop-up ad. Not a huge X2 camera one or ****** one. Bah.

simon snowflake 17th June 2002 11:31

yeah, you are right, its just a small pop-up. And not even a pop-up that when you close it gives 10 pop-ups.

dude883 17th June 2002 13:10

the cjb popups really sucked (who doesn't hate these ****** popups?) but the .tk one isn't that big (as i said before), that's why i don't use the script (thanks to blackdog anyway!)

as skinme sayed, you should give credit to someone who gives you stuff for free... and i don't want to loose the domain in case someone finds out about the banner killer :P

_Blackdog_ 17th June 2002 14:29

that pop up for .tk is so retarded! think about it. it advertises their site, which mostly just gives out free domains...

ripe 17th June 2002 14:42

surprise surprise i got a .tk too

probably the pop-up is only for thier own site cos they haven't got any advertisers yet.....
i agree the tk pop-up is fine right now, but they could change for the worse.

tk.tk.tk.tk.boom

Kepstin 18th June 2002 19:33

they say that the popup is just an advertisement banner for them. you can choose the banner, make it a frame, or turn it off completely.

skinme! 18th June 2002 21:03

Stupid? That is an opinion. It is what you think. They might think your website is stupid, but they still give you the free cervix. Sorry, service.

CJB.NET banners. Hmm, I don't get them. If you turn of all the extravagant options (url masking, chatrooms, stats) you're left banner-free with url forwarding (but not masking) and unlimited email address forward.

i never got banners, but i still got full screen pop ups

J_Bloggs 19th June 2002 03:45

My firewall blocks pop-ups and banner ads, can someone check if my website has pop-ups?

_Blackdog_ 19th June 2002 03:55

you dont have any ads, bloggs. i've never heard of a firewall that blocks ads. interesting...

J_Bloggs 19th June 2002 04:13

it's called AtGuard, as well as doing normal firewall stuff, it blocks cokies, blocks pop-ups, it can make animated gifs non-repeating, it can block javascript, it can stop you from going to a website altogether, it can be passworded so that the settings can't be changed and it blocks most banner ad's. I'll go see if it can cook toast.

Jellby 19th June 2002 09:37

ZoneAlarm blocks popups, javascript, banners...

Naviscope blocks ads, prefetches pages...

Opera blocks popups
