For Van Halen Fans: Roth or Hagar

Who is better: David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar?

patroclus22 14th June 2002 00:38

What?? You're skipping Gary Sharone??:weird:

j/k Roth was the best. Bar none. I don't like Sammy Hagar's voice or his style.

papadoc 14th June 2002 00:54

David Lee Roth any day of the week.
Van Halen never was the same without him.

GOTS 2 B David Lee Roth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Van Halen without D.L.R.?
Man, that's almost as wrong as AC/DC without Bon Scott.

Sandman2012 14th June 2002 01:15

David Lee Roth. He's hysterical. Sammy Hagar's biggest hit was "I Can't Drive 55." How stupid do you think he feels singing this song in concert since the national speed limit was changed (or in european countries with the metric system and differing speed limits)? What a dork.

[edit] I can't drive 55 either because all the people behind me honk.

When DLR left Van Halen, they went for somebody
with a big name, not really thinking about the sound.
Van Halen never was the same.

When Bon Scott died, the Young brothers went for someone
without a name, Brian Johnson, because he fit the sound of AC/DC.
AC/DC rocked on...

:) for the Young brothers.

Jon Deaux 14th June 2002 01:28

Yer right about the sound PapaDoc, but Bon Scott had *something* which is hard to describe other than to call it personal magnetism.
His death was a great loss to fans the band.
The sound is still killer....but I suffer the miss.

Hey! AC/DC is better w/o Bon Scott. I mean, he was good, but AC/DC would never have been so popular w/o Johnson. Back In Black, the best album would never have been released. I agree with papadoc on that.

I saw that video, but I don't really understand it. Is that all that is on his website?

I like David better cuz he does those crazy yells and jokes around a lot. Sammy is good, but he has a weird sounding voice. My favorite "Van Hagar" song is Right Now.

telinstryata 14th June 2002 01:29

When DLR was in VH I would listen too them all the time and would watch their videos. DLR was a lot of fun. As soon as Hagar joined I stopped listening. They just were not the same. :(

I like Highway To Hell (the song). Bon Scott is kind of hard to understand in his singing. Or I guess harder to understand than Brian Johnson;)

Y'know, we should all feel very very very sorry for Mr. Sharone. One album and he was dropped by the band. I've never even heard one of his songs.

Jon Deaux 14th June 2002 01:38

I wasn't meanin to shade Brian Johnson, because the cat is great and really works to put on a good show.
Highway to Hell....yeah, Bon put it in gear and pointed it that way....no lookin back.
Rock on!

Never heard of Extreme, his previous band?
BTW, it's Gary Cherone guys:weird:

I heard yesterday that Brian Johnson is no longer with AC/DC and has been replaced with Jesse James Dupree, formerly of Jackyl.

GoldenSphynx 14th June 2002 03:36

I'm sorry, but I don't know who both of them are.:(

That's a good rumor.
Jesse James Dupree and Brian Johnson did a song together once.

I thought Jesse James Dupree was still with Jackyl,
touring this summer on the Rock Never Stops Tour
with Tesla, Vince Neil, and Skid Row .

But who knows...http://imbiss-coding.de/smiliez.de/smz/trrg/trrg_41.gif

No I haven't.

Where'd you hear that? If it's true, that's really too bad about Brian Johnson. Hopefully the new guy will be able to continue the legacy.

Aero Zeppelin 14th June 2002 04:13

I think the Brian Johnson rumor is partly true. According to MTV, he has not quit, but he is now wrting some songs for a play.
