The cheak of these people.......sue em Nullsoft !
:igor:
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail.php3?fid=930410253 Winamp accept nothing else :):winamp: |
their base skin doesn't look all that bad.
|
I think that there is a higher chance of the author being contested by Adaptec rather than Nullsoft.

Hmm...I wonder where they could have got the look from? ;) |
Who posted those first two reviews??:D
|
I wouldnt download that rip if you paid me too
|
Only 1906 Downloads as of now.
AOL should shut that beta down for being able to use Winamp skins on a non-Winamp program. Roxio also will make sure that that beta's name is changed to something else. Its getting poor ratings. Last I was there, its 3.1 / 5 rating [Edit]BTW, the author has made a plugin for Winamp Hotkeys. Isn't that more hassle than just using the regular Hotkeys for Winamp? http://linas.info/ [/Edit] |
I don't think the program will last long. Funny though. They couldn't even think of a name for their rip, so they had to steal a name from Adaptec.

EasyCD
For winamp users: EasyCD is NOT an mp3 player!!! It will not play mp3, it plays only CD's! It is designed to be a CD player with winamp skin support and nothing more. Why are you rating this program on BetaNews if you even do not try it? It's one of the Best CD players around! Try it and you will see. Believe me.

And calling EasyCD a ripoff of a Roxio registered name is what I call being anally retentive. My old computer was called EZ PC 2000. Should Compaq be sued? Easy is a common enough English word. |

1. You do not have many CD's 2. You want that one program do it all 3. You did not try EasyCD I myself like winamp very much, but only to play mp3. Play Audio CD with winamp is very uncomfortable (compared to EasyCD for example). Use program that is the best for that job, winamp for mp3, EasyCD for CDAudio. P.S. You think, that is very bad that EasyCD uses winamp skins? But even Windows Media Player 7 support that. |
RM, how old was that computer though?
Kinas, how do you mean it is uncomfortable? |
I use winamp for playing cda, wav, mp3, ogg...Why use another program for cd when winamp does it all??
Personally, i wouldnt mind if someone downloaded one of my skins for use with another player, but only if theyre available for download from somewhere i've submitted it. |
Doesn’t the guy who created this program inhabit the winamp forums? I’m sure I saw him around here somewhere….

If you still prefer winamp to play audio cd - very good. Just do not say: "WinAmp rip off, winamp is better in every possible way it can be..." or "This is definately a Winamp clone, and this product shouldn't be downloaded whatsoever..." as you say in betanews after reading in this forum. |
The MikroAMP plugin allows winamp control from the systray...Its skinnable too.

KiNaS: You are the maker of this program right??
Did you get permission from the author of that skin before you butchered it like that?? |

1. I have around 150 CDs, and I'm sure there are ppl here who have 10 times that. 2. Yes, what's wrong with that? It saves me RAM and CPU time in most cases. Besides, Winamp does that very very good. 3. No I didn't. I won't download a 800 kb program to play only CDs, when I can download Winamp "Lite" for 500 kbs, and play CDs, MP3 and Shoutcast streams (et.al). Quote:
If you "liked" winamp that much, you would realize that it's the best at what it does, and that includes CDs. Winamp uncomfortable? Have YOU actually tried Winamp before spamming in our forums? How come you "like it very much" if you think it's "very uncomfortable" That doesn't make much sense to me. Quote:
(and I'm not bashing MS, I use both Linux and Windows, and each has its own strong and weak points. Both are equally good or bad). |
I use Winamp for everything to play anything from cds, mp3s, mpegs, wav, ogg, and wma.
Winamp was created as an audio player. Now its turned into a Media Player. http://www.winamp.com/images/footer/walisten.gif |
What i am missing here.
This CD player is 99.9% like Winamp. What makes winamp so "uncomfortable". I'd call it a clone of Winamp with all the functionality taken out. |

LOL, just checking :p

ok... now thats over with... 1. Winamp plays everything i want it to play 2. Winamp suports winamp skins (well duh) 3. Winamp has an indepth fully functional playlist 4. 500kb download... 1. EazyCD can ONLY play cda 2. EazyCD can suport winamp skins 3. has to use a menu to select tracks 4. 800kb download... winamp wins on all 4 points... btw... get rid of Winamp skin suport, cos nullsoft do own the rights to the winamp skin structure and can sue you for using that, and the authors of the skins found being used on this program can also sue you for using the work in a way it was not meant for... i sugest you make up your own skin structure that isnt just a winamp skin with the extention changed or some of the file names changed... |

But that is only the Winamp Lite edition Bizzy ;)
|
i know this... but what i said was also based on the lite version...
btw.. if you rip someone elses work.. you are suposed to make it better not worse |
ok hm... no offense here, but doesnt it seem stupid to use 1 program for cd's one program for mp3's, one program for whatever, when theres one program that does all of it.... :igor: anyway... besides, why listen to your cd's on computer, when you can make mp3's and "mix" different cd's on your computer... then you dont have to burn new cd's or change cd's when you want a new song... personally this easy cd seems like a waste of time... and theres, no way im spending the time to even dl that... oh well...

that may be true, but consider that when the one does the job well, then why bother having 5 that do it a little better, unless you have no life other than music, personally its too confusing having 5 programs even if there a little better, when i can have one and not notice the difference... if there was a big huge quality difference then ok... but if theres not... why not use one, it makes more sense, its simpler, and it saves space on my computer, i myself might nto use an all purpose tool for the job, but with your analogy, when i have limited space, id rather carry my swiss army knife, then a better bigger version of everything in it... cause my little knife serves the purpose |

And I'm with sawg on multi-use software on this one. Popcorn rocks because it doesn't try to be your emailer/scheduler/address book/secretary/mistress. I'd also like to point out that property rights on the internet is a grey area. Although it is nice to think that skinners have control over how their product is used, legally, they don't have much at all. There is no licence agreement on Winamp.com that states that users must use skins exactly as skinners intended. For all intents and purposes, a user owns a skin when the download it. That means they can use that skin for whatever purpose... including using it in another program. There aren't sufficient laws to deal with this; do the rights of producers extend to your hard drive, or do consumers have the right to use products as they see fit? No one really knows yet. |
