Day Of The Dad

It's father's Day here in the U.S..
That means I'll be the honored guest at dinner at my sons house later.
The wife gave me a new golf club this morning, nice Taylor Made 300Ti fairway metal wood, I'm looking forward to trying it.
I'm sure my son has some nice thing to give me as well, but what I'm really looking forward to getting is the gift my granddaughters have for me.
I already know what it is.
My granddaughters have bought me a coffee cup.
Not just any coffee cup mind you...nope, this one says "WORLDS GREATEST GRAMPA" on it.
This will go next to the one my sons gave me almost 30 years ago...the one that says "WORLDS GREATEST DAD".
These cups are my trophies, and are my most prized possessions.
When you honor your father today remember;
It really is the thought that counts.
Happy Father's Day!

Thank You Golden Sphinx, I shall indeed have a good one!
I hope you and your father have a splendid day too!
I have to go get "dignified" looking now.

Happy fathers day. :)

I thought the title read "Day of the Dead"....

"Every day should be [insert holiday in which you take time out to remember and cherish friends/family]"

Bilbo Baggins 16th June 2002 17:32

I read that title wrong too RM. I need my eyes testing :p

I bought my dad some finest ales for Fathers Day (it is here in the UK too). My brother got him some of his favourite sweets, being Bassets Liquorice Allsorts. My sister didn't get anything because "I don't believe in celebrating a commercially made up day".

Not a bloody word about Fathers Day from my lot. Not such a big thing in England though, nothing like Mothers Day.
I have heard from them all, we stay in prety good touch most of the time, so I suppose it doesn't matter about special days too much, a card would have been nice though:)
The grandchildren are completely oblivious to such things anyway, full of the joys of holidays at the moment, they just got back from the seaside.

Have a good one Dads

i was almost ready to invoke hue's law #1 on this thread, as i read it same as rm did, at first

but now, i must remember to find my dad when he gets home

Yeah, luckily I don't have to worry about gift buying for another couple of months, living in Australia and all, :)

But on a side note it seems we have some George A. Romero fans in here, cool :D

Huehuetenango 17th June 2002 00:33

i am about as far from a george romero fan as is ever going to exist
i HATE zombies w/ a passion
they scare the shit out of me (excuse the language)
hence hue's law #1

(sorry for the tangent)
back to the well-wishing for fathers
