Here's what I've been up to recently. The window isn't in yet, I'm going to do that tonight :)

It's a Globalwin 802 case sprayed Tahiti Blue with a 120mm blowhole and Blue cold cathode light :D

and here I thought you were referring to a car :)

Atmo 21st June 2002 12:35

Nice.

I personally like black cases, but the blue light suits the color.

I don't know, I don't follow the latest in computer design trends.

Interesting. I am modding my case with a prefab window for the Ahanix Platinum XP case that I talked about earlier and have now. I pay them $35 and they send me a new side panel with the window on it. I could mod it myself, but I don't trust myself with a hacksaw. Anyway, looks very cool, Phily Baby.

How easy are the windows to put in?

John M 21st June 2002 21:26

fairly easy, if your comforable with a dremel. i was considereing putting a light&window in my HP box, since it has a thumbscrewed panel that can be easly detached to work on. i just have to find a color of light that wont look stupid.

Bilbo Baggins 21st June 2002 21:33

There be problems - i have no Dremel.

liquidmotion 21st June 2002 21:40

i don't even know what a dremel is :)

besides, just buy a koolance.com case with the window built in, and it's liquid cooled.

Sounds like a good old fashioned ScreenSavers tutorial. :D Awesome job though. :D

How much did all of that cost you by any chance?

I used a jigsaw to cut the holes. I do reccomend that you paint the case if you use a jigsaw because it beats all the paint off the case using it.

The window kit cost £17, the light ~£24 and the fan I already had ~£15, paint, primer, laquer etc ~£20. I didn't realise it cost that mush!.

I think the pictures make it look better than it really is, in real life you can tell it's pretty amateureish.

You only need a blowhole if you've got a whale of a case.

Dude! that looks sweet. I personally would have gone with red, but I guess that's what I'll have to do when I get around to it. Which won't be soon because I'm saving up for a new camera.

BTW how hard was that and how long have you been working on that Phily?

Haha bilbo. :D

Blowholes are ony if your case doesnt have holes in the side, and they cool the case quite well. :)

Well about an hour with my dad cutting the holes then about a daypainting all the bits, letting them dry and respraying them. Also I reccomend that you get 2 cans of paint because I ran out right at the end and had to go get some more, which was annoying. You need a primer and a laquer too.
