feasibility of a plan
my friends and i were talking, as we so often do, and came to the conclusion that, by following the following steps, you can become a *rock* star.
//begin tutorial 1) first, either pay someone to write your music or write your own (preferably #1 unless you have some skill). make sure they are writing the music for nothing other than to be hits. they must be in sync (no pun intended) with the current pop music trend. 2) with that song, jump into the mainstream. become adored by millions of people around the world. 3) whoa, dammit. ok, forgot one: practice your dancing and lip-synching skills. 4) after a few years of touring, and creating videos for every track on the album, check your bank account. if done correctly, you should have millions of $$ in there (you might even say $texas). 5) fake your own death. return to the music scene as a serious artist with a new name, writing music that you feel helps you to grow as a person; you aren't writing to make hits, you are writing to be writing. your bank account will be nice and full which will make it easy to create a studio in your house. 6) become adored by hundreds of real artists/musicians and live a full life with your dignity intact. //end tutorial. well, is this a feasable way to allow a person to live out their dreams of becoming a *rock* star? :) word. |
7.learn to grab your balls like the other rock stars
8.you must know how to drink, puke and keep singing all at once:D |
you forgot a bunch of things:
first off, the real brains behind the n'sync / backstreet boys phenomenon have been doing this shit for many many years (remember new kids on the block and menudo?) second off, the meat and potatoes of said phenomenon, the much hated and loved singer/dancers that call themselves the band, were basically thrown together by these brains. they had nothing to do with the forming of the bands third off, i've begun to think about this a whole lot recently: how would you feel if you had scores of adoring preteen girly fans (in other words, hands off buddy!), but nobody with half a brain took you seriously, and everybody with a full brain despised you and made fun of you publicly, and felt no remorse for it because you are who you are? these kids are just trying to make a living, and thrown into their situation, you probably would be doing the same thing. basically, they are whoring themselves out to the public, but they know this and it's hard to resist when you're thrown in there, and they're going to be left feeling like shit after it's all over (the longer and stronger the high, the worse the come down). don't be surprised if the suicide rate among former backstreet boys, n'sync, 98 degrees, o-town, and whatnot become astronomically high later on. they probably already hate themselves. now, i hate these bands, and the principles behind them, as much as the next guy, but i don't think the actual cast members are to blame, nor do i hate them at all. and look at the bright side... didn't that one guy get to fuck britney spears? :D |
those are *pop*stars...not *rock*stars:D
|
Damn....you mean I played all them shitty little clubs fer nuthin??????

It takes alot more than lyrics and a nice face to do what I do! Oh and this is from a week ago, I am long done this.
|
Hmmm... same program I use, Magix Music and Video Maker, but I use it for Techno. (My CD should be done by the end of my Summer vacation).
|
I use it to create beats. It's my only really computer program, most of the stuff is done on moderatly expensive equpment, but as you know, Magix is good for making noise, lol.
|
I have problems with their synthesizers, they always affect the loudness of all the other tracks. I generally don't use the synthesizers (except for beat box).
|
Sythesizers  . I don't use them all that much, but If you do, just use the main mixer to lower the levels of the sounds. Or you could just make your beat with beat box, save it as a .wav, open a new arrangement and put it in.
|
Yeah... I have no clue y I didn't think of that... I usually do stuff like that with other sounds all the time. I dunno why I just didn't do it with the beatbox and stuff.
|
Nice rules. Dont forget to have lots of sappy scenes in videos. ;)
|
the beauty is you don't need to know how to sing. that's why they invented lip sync'ing. either that or you can be like Linkin Park and have a guy with a whiney voice sing and have some other guy talk fast like a rapper dude :P. or better yet, BE A RAP STAR!
all you have to is pay someone to make you a cheesy beat with some weird girl doing background vocals, and all you have to do is talk fast! doesn't get much easier than that. make sure you rent some diamond jewelry and a bentley and some slutty ass girls to put in your music video and you're set for life. |
FLAME ALERT -- FLAME ALERT -- FLAME ALERT -- FLAME ALERT --
PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU CANNOT STAND FLAMING -- YOU WERE WARNED! FUCK THAT, you did not just make fun of rap! Rap you need skill to write for, (not saying it's easy to write rock or anything), but rap is about the words. Yeah, I know, I love rap and I don't like videos with sluts and stuff in them, you are stero typing. THIS IS FLAMING HERE, without a fucking doubt, rap is the only thing I listen to, I hate people who just say that it's poeple talking fast, if you actually stop to listen to a real rap artist you would know that. I don't want to offend anybody, but I could point out things wrong with rock etc. But I know that is the whole concept of the music, instruments, sometimes slow calm vocals, or killer ballads, that is rock. Rap is about the art of lyrics, the way the rhymes are created. If you are to slow to understand it, well... Here take one of my current fav's right now. Letter 2 My Unborn - 2 Pac, download it off Winmx or kazaa, then say what you just said, it's quite clear what he says, I doubt there would be sluts in that vid, and there is alot of truth in that song. If you have any more problems with rap, say it, i will defend it, but b4 you think I am all like rap is soo good, know that with anything, I don't agree with everything. FLAME ALERT -- FLAME ALERT -- FLAME ALERT -- FLAME ALERT -- |
nine inch nails OWNZ!!!
|
liquid, i gotta agree w/ you on that
then again, if you gottta whore yourself to get started, well, i guess that's waht ALL major label musicians do to start off. put yourself at the beck and call of the producers, make what they want you to, until you get respected enough for them to give you your own label, or you have the money to start your own and blueprint, i know what you mean, some rap is different, and that is the type i can stand (beastie boys, run dmc, stuff like that) |

IMO most rap sucks...but thats just it, im entitled to my own opinion....And so is frod.

My take on Rap?
Yeah, I know, nobody asked, and nobody cares, because opinions are like bellybuttons in that nobody much cares about anyone elses. Rap is hard edged, ruthless, and sudden. You can feel the rage, sense the fear, catch the fleeting tenderness, for those deserving. Sometimes you can hear the moan of a sick soul, sometimes the pure joy of something finaly going right...for a change. Rap can be anger, love, worry, and laughter. It's a black thing. Rap came out of the grime where your spirit dies, shook the soot off it's wings and flew....the blues did the same shit. Some weak assed pretenders stand up and holler shit in time, it rhymes...sometimes....clean it up enough and you can sell it to them damn white kids, but the soul of it? Well, that aint part of the deal. Some Rap makes me want to cap the next music industry guy I see. Rudy Ray Moore done it first. |
<------- dont like rap or country. to me they all sing about the same thing over and over:weird:

nine inch nails is the best band ever. |
My take on rap?
A tiny bit is good. The rest is shit. Just like every other genre. (Personally, rap isn't to my taste, but that doesn't mean i can't respect some of it.) |
Me agrees with Pixiefied and curi0us George. I don't generally like rap because I like really fast paced stuff (Like Jungle, Techno etc.), and I also I like stuff without words. I like being able to listen to the beats, concentrate on the music. Basically, I think *SOME* rap is okay. Those were my thoughts on rap... even tho no one probably wanted to hear them.

i agree with some of what curious george said, amazingly (never thought about it). i really love instrumental music because i like to concentrate on the music. if there has to be vocals, i like them fucked with to the point that the voice becomes part of the art (ala nine inch nails/trent reznor, the best band/musician ever)
ok then... next? |
sometimes i like smooth, melodic singing that blends well with the music. other times i like the thrash, no holds barred singing.
TOOL fits my purposes for all occasions :) |
ja, tool ist sehr gut.

I understand if someone doesn't like a type of music. When I defend rap i'm not saying go out and buy it, or it has to be the best in everyones mind, cuz I know for any type of music, that will never happen. But when people don't listen to rap, or understand some of the real problems that is talks about. What Jon Deaux said earlier is probably the closest i could come to explaining it. I don't want you to like it, I just want you to respect it. We seem to have alot of Nine Inch Nail fans here, I don't listen to it, and it's not my type of music, but I still won't call it shit, because it's not, it's just not my favorite, but if they have many fans, than it's obvious it ain't shit, it speaks to that crowd, much like rap might speak to a different type of lifestyle or attitude. So basically, instead of saying a type of music is shit, or sucks, just say it's not your type of music. If you don't like hamburgers, they don't suck, you just don't like them, you would rather have a hotdog, or salad, etc.

/Chev's anti-drivel attitude precludes him from reading anymore of the negativity which usually accompanies posts from the above member.
Instead, just this: http://elchevelle.homestead.com/files/hip-hop.jpg |
I used to like a lot of Rap/Hip hop.... but that was when I was on drugs :D
Now I listen to mostly jazz, funk, blues and classical still some hip hop Now don't get me wrong SOME rap is ok but most of it is pre marketed crap, same as any other genre. Pac was awesome and so was Biggie. Old school had more talent, mc ing underground and breaking etc. Take Kardinal Offishall this guy can rock a mic Canadian too. Redman was a true lyrsist back in the day, but they all seem to make the crossover, because that's where the money is. Basically the good rap hasn't gone mainstream and most of us haven't heard it. |
