skin titles

This has probably been brought up before, but I couldn't find it.

Does anyone know exactly what the criteria are for skin names when submitting to winamp.com. I'm not talking about the name of the WSZ, but the title. It has seemed to me on previous occasions that if the name is too long, it gives you a submission error.
-what's the maximum length of the title?
-what characters are/aren't allowed (eg, are periods (.) allowed)?
-etc.

Cheers.

Someone was having problems with a title using periods a while back. Im not exactly sure which other charachters cant be used...

Skin Names can contain letters and numbers only, according to the database, not sure of the exact file name length you are allowed, but basically the longer it is, the more chance it'll fuck up, do you really need to write an essay in your file name title?

Same goes for the skin description, no not that larger text commentary that goes with the skin, the small into line , if you make this to large it again breaks the system.

Thanks heaps Mr Jones.
From my experience, only letters and nubmers seemed to work, and I've definitely had problems with periods (behave). Which leaves me to wonder, how did these skins get on board?

According to the search, there are 2133 more skins with both "." and "com" in them, in other words a shitload. So why doesn't the "." seem to work now?

This is particularly relevant to me, since the reason I asked in the first place is because I'm designing a website skin and would like to call it blabla.com

About the minor skin description, it only lets you type a certain amount of letters, and I usually hit that limit without problems.

I just noticed. Are we talking about the same thing? I didn't mean the WSZ file, but the title which appears at the top of the skin preview page.

Those two skins you gave as examples are fairly old. Perhaps the database underwent some changes a while back that made periods a no-no.

isnt it strange when the system changes from something good like accepting "." to something like what happens now, farts on a paragraph.

Hehe.

Would "blabla dot com" not suffice? Although I do agree, Winamp should allow periods...

I rememeber figuring out (don't remember how :) ) that spaces weren't allowed in .wsz files, but not sure about titles.
