Utility for editing the winampmb.txt
Those of you who skin using a folder rather than a WSZ, and who like to skin the inside of the MB (nees MikroAmp of course) have probably noticed how winamp makes a winampmb.htm file each time it loads your winampmb.txt - meaning that it you have to delete the damn thing every time you make alterations to your winampmb.txt so that winamp will read that. It pisses me off deleting it every time, so I made this - it took several weeks of coding, but I did it ;) . It's a little BAT file that deletes the HTM version each time you edit the TXT version. Just place it in your skin directory, and instead of double-clicking the winampmb.txt to edit it, just double-click the BAT file. It will load up Notepad with the winampmb.txt loaded, and when you exit notepad, it will automatically delete winampmb.htm and exit itself.

I'm sure that is a handy little tool
I personally open the winampmb.htm file in notepad, edit what I want, then save it as winampmb.txt after I finish editing - I used to delete the htm file all the the time - it got annoying |
A matter of personal taste I guess. I don't like right-clicking and choosing "open with", and I don't want my HTMLs to be set to "open with notepad" permanently, so that's why I edit them as txt :)

Just put a shortcut to notepad in the "Send to" folder. It comes VERY useful, there are many file types you would like to open with notepad, being able to just right-click->send-to->notepad is one of the handiest things. I have shortcuts to IrfanView and Winamp too.

that's what I meant by
"A matter of personal taste I guess. I don't like right-clicking and choosing "open with", and I don't want my HTMLs to be set to "open with notepad" permanently, so that's why I edit them as txt " I'm just too impatient, I guess - I don't find that method very handy :) |
Well, choosing "open with" is noticeably more cumbersome than "send to", moreover you don't have to associate all the html files with notepad and the "send to notepad" shortcut is available for any file you want. But I agree with you, it's a matter of personal taste, I just wanted to give some ideas that could be useful :)
P.S. Now that the worldcup is over you can change your avatar :D |

No probs. But if I've understood correctly, then Send to does pretty much the same thing as Open with on my system. Once I do "Open With...Choose Program)" and choose notepad, a link gets permanently created for notepad there - so all I have to do from then on is rightclick-"open with"-notepad (which, as I say, I still don't like - pretty fussy :D) P.S. Now that the worldcup is over you can change your avatar Well, even though you're a heathen, I guess you've suffered enough. ;) But my next avatar is a mug of me, so you'll probably be wishing I still had the soccer ball :D //while I'm on the topic, Congratulations to Brazil. And my warmest congratulations to Korea and Turkey. And of course, congratulations to Poland for the superb, totally sublime performance they gave. |

About the "open with notepad", my old win98 never worked like that, but yes, that's the way "send to" works (but it's there for all file types). I'm a of right-clicking freak 8) |
