Yes, wouldn't wear anything else on my feet, six pairs I own, the cherry red's, two pairs of black DM chelsea boots, two pairs of DM shoes, black and light brown and a pair of steel toe capped industrial boots, for those heavy jobs..

Whatever you do, don't make it a round WA3 skins, too many round ones out there at the minute.

I used to have a pair of Dr Martins, Dark blue.
My girl really wants a pair of dark purple ones.

I only wear boots, and I must say, the 1 pair of Dr. Martens I had was the most uncomfortable and least durable pair of shoes I've ever owned. There's a possibility that they were fakes though. :wierd:

That can't be right LOL, I've had one pair of mine for nearly 10 years, and they are still soooooooooooooo comfy, ok, they have been re-soled a couple of times 'cos the rubber wears down eventually, but a good pair of DM's are like a good woman, they get better with age (there is another comment to go here, but I fear I may get lynched if I write it ):D

the DM's are sure fine boots, and very comfy because the leather will fit to your feeth after a while.

true, but who to listen to? the skin comments on deskmod seem to be kicking down anything that is rectangular. apparently if it's not blob shaped it's no good.

I share your feelings, just not for DMs. I currently wear Blundstones , the pride and joy of the Australian boot-making industry :D Most of you probably haven't heard of them, but they're damn good boots (mine are steel-capped lace-ups, for those who have - I don't like the slip-ons). My DMs lasted a year or two. By the end, the soles had massive cracks (after having been resoled once) as did the actual leather. To be fair, I wore them to McDonald's, when I worked there as a teenager. So I think it shows either (a) the poor quality of Australian manufactured DMs as opposed to genuine ones, or (b) that even so called "grease-proof, oil-proof, acid-proof" soles are no match for the grease, industrial strength detergents, spilt "food" and other filthy crap that cover the floors of McDonalds at one time or other. Scary.

/ looks for a UK supplier of Blundstones, 'nother good one for you if you can get your hands on any, I have a pair of hard soled UK Airforce boot's that I got from a mate who left the airforce with like 10 pairs of these brand spanking new boots, freeeeeaking amazing, you would think they would be the most uncomfy things to ever wear, all solid leather sole, and rock hard leather uppers, in fact they are amazing, I've walked for miles in them, climbed up rock faces, waded across rivers and done all kinds of wierd stuff in them, and they never bend, break or spilt, and yet you hardly notice your wearing them, amazing..

I'll have a look for them. In Melbourne, there are quite a few Army disposal stores where you can get all sorts of ex military gear such as boots. I had a pair of Australian army boots once (although, they were crap), and they apparently even stocked Polish army boots a few years ago, so there's a tangible chance that they'll well have these UK airforce boots.

/on topic. The nipple was good, Simon, so maybe you could make what Australians call a "map of tasmania" to match?

I'm cheap when it comes to shoes, I once had a cheap pair of shoes (NZ$10 - less than $5 american) that lasted me two and a half years, and they were darn comfortable too. When I decided to throw them out the soles had worn right through.

Regressing back to DM's...

I can't wear them because they only come in full sizes (at least they did the last time I looked) but my sister had a pair. One night she was wearing them at a bar with some of her friends, and this guy comes up to her and says mockingly, "hey, are those your dad's shoes?" and she turns around and says "no, he's dead". Hard to have a snappy comeback to that - he left with his tail between his legs.

i think this thread should hqve called, nipples and DR Martins. :D
