Maybe it's the song?
you never know

BKDotCom 24th July 2002 21:56

Boom's "Fake Desktop Alpha" feature is awsome.
Could that feature become a Winamp3 feature?

Is the "Glowing Analyzer" something I can only see if I'm Desktop-alpha able?

VooDoo` 25th July 2002 09:47

if i turn of the glowing analizer i can't change the viz with right or left click.
glowing analizer are able to use with both, but without deskopalpha i have some cutting parts and the fake desktop as skin background (only with 482, older wa3 versions have other bigger bugs) :(

Adil 26th July 2002 09:21

Please no more bug reports on build 482... You're torturing my mailbox !

If 482 doesn't work for you then use 481... we will release an updated version when willfisher comes back, it will also have new features.. so be patient.

no, it always works.
if you need cpu power, disable the scrolling song ticker, that takes a hellot of cpu in boom...

first off, thanks for your post, Will is on vacation so I'm gonna reply to it...

The circular seeker is a white to black spiral gradient with masks the full seeker disk. winamp recognises that the brighter the zone is, the more advanced the track position.
it's like in the volume knob of an older version of Noir the rhino had coded.

shit, I suck at explaining such things..:) check the attached file..

VooDoo` 26th July 2002 10:14

can't open widows (e.g. playlist editor) in WA3 #483
i will use the default skin even if BOOM are working without desktop alpha

hey, check out my german translation patch for wa3 483:

If BOOM was a real portable mp3 player, it would be a best seller among the Palestinians. And Israelis would think that this idea is a Blast!

Neko 26th July 2002 15:20

and i shall keep my minidisc player to listen to music and leave winamp 2 and 3 uninstalled

Caleb 26th July 2002 19:17

WMP9 r0x0rs :D

seriously, i think that it will be widely used (more than wa3).

all coz of the cool stuff in it..

WA3 used to be cool and fun in the old builds..but now its getting boring.. more like WA2 bahhh

Plague 26th July 2002 19:23

I never, ever use WiMP 7 and/or 8 and I dont think I'll use 9 either..
I use 6.4 but I would like to use 6.2, coz that's my favorite version so far... works best and is the fastest..

Someone hijacked caleb's account...

back to topic, boom works okay on 483 except that you can't open component windows like the playlist etc... right now I use the default to load my songs and then switch to boom with desktop alpha on.
I also kept 481 with boom installed, it works fine for me and has all the features 483 has.

oh oops forgot to post this link:

wallenium 27th July 2002 09:20

adil, does the winampbar xp work with wa3? and can you make a single build, without wa within? look in my wmp9 --> wa3 topic. thx

Adil 27th July 2002 09:27

uhmm, I think that winampbar xp would be good as wa3 script...

right now I use a universal bar that works with any player that's loaded. (wa2 wa3 sonique...)

PS: post a link for the thread you want me to see pls.

wallenium 27th July 2002 09:31

extract it and find out. :P

p.s. they rock... i'm using the blue one now.

SNYder 28th July 2002 04:30

p.s. Adil, why the change in logo? Wanted a compacted BOOM logo so it would look sexy centered in a background? :)

Tomato Face 28th July 2002 07:11

The blue background is pretty slick. You should make BOOM! change the background to night mode when you switch it in winamp :) . I'm not sure how plausable that is though, but it would be interesting, and completely optional of course.

It's not a new logo, there were always two logos for boom.. look at the side of the box...

willfisher and I already tought of making boom control the whole desktop apearance but he told me it won't be that easy.
I also tought of a screensaver option when in night mode.
wait and see guys...:)

Bugging Adil.

1 Attachment(s)
I found a neat little bug for you Adil and Will. I hope this hasn't been posted before and I'm osrry for repeating if it has been. I'm currently running build 483, and I'm not posotive that it isn't a winamp3 issue, but it sure doesn't seem like it is to me. To reproduce first shut off the the docking/undocking animation, then switch in to the undocked mode. Now you must turn on the docking/undocking animations, then switch into the docked mode. Then half of your BOOM player is gone :). I think this is a pretty little bug, and it looks really good with the shadows on, just have a look at the attachment to see what I mean. This is a pretty neat little bug if you ask me.

[celebrate]Woo! 100 posts for me :D. It's only taken me a year on these forums too, I'm happy to finaly make it though.[/celebrate]

The Rhino 29th July 2002 14:22

that is a third main window mode, shademode with buttons thats no bug it is totally intentional i do that ALL the time :D

Adil 29th July 2002 14:24

hahaha that's not a bug, it's the ghost mode :D

Tomato Face 29th July 2002 22:26

Heh, well I like it a hell of a lot. It's the only way I'll be using BOOM now. :)

Just a thought but wouldn't be easier to find and fix bugs if you used the WA3 build that gave you fits and problems ..would it not make the bug hunt go a lil bit faster ?? ..don't mean to say that you don't know what you're doing Adil ..just a question

JBDude 30th July 2002 16:13

download for Boom yet ??

where can I download the latest on boom ...I saw a post mentioning something about a url and a password ...anyhoo I like what I'm seeing so far ..can't wait

Gonzotek 30th July 2002 16:16

Can some one give me a good link to Winamp #481 Please i need to use that one for boom i have been trying to use the others and it don't work that good on them but that dam skin looks so good that i have been looking all over for the #481

Adil 31st July 2002 10:35

I'm waiting for willfisher to come back so we can release version 1.1 as I said a few times before...
Boom's code belongs to Will, only he can change stuff in it, I tried to fix the 483 bugs myself, I managed to make the PL open but it causes bugs somewhere else...:(

I think the 481 is still downloadable from winamp.com builds page... could someone post the link please?

Would this be the builds page you wanted? I'm not sure if thats the one you're talking about. Well all the older builds (before 483) have been removed from the Nullsoft servers. It seemed to happen when they locked us out of browsing through the directories :(. Sorry, but unless someone saved a copy of this build and wants to upload it you wont be getting it.

Mr Jones 31st July 2002 11:00

Tada!
