The winampmb.htm...and a database question.
I noticed some skins have a winampmb.htm in the skin file, and when I load those skins, it looks like Winamp tries to load the file but can't. Is there a way to get the program to load the specialty mb file? (I'm asking partly because I would like to make such a file for one skin I'm currently making.)
Also...on a totally unrelated note: I removed my skins...er...feels like at least two months ago, then republished them (partly due to a reviewer mistaking one for a skinner.exe which caused much annoyance on my part). I want to rename them (since they haven't been actually published published yet), but even for one that I removed due to an accident and tried to reload at least 4 months ago, the names are still in the database! Do the names ever leave (I heard a few weeks would clear them up)? Or is there something about my account that's making them get stuck forever? Any help on either question would be much appreciated :) |
Exactly how are you trying to load it? If you're just starting Winamp, then it's not loading. Maybe the problem is, it should be winampmb.txt, not .htm. Maybe we can help if we have more specifics.

winampb.htm shouldnt be in the .wsz file. It should be renamed to winampb.txt first and it can only be shown if the user hasMikroAMP installed.
As for your skins waiting, there is a bit of a backload at the moment, but 4 months sounds like something has gone wrong somewhere. Did you update it at any stage?? |
OK, as many details as I can...the skins have both winampmb.htm and winampmb.txt. It's Winamp 2.8. It only attempts to load the file if I'm connected to the net it seems; otherwise it loads the winampmb.htm file located in the Winamp program directory. The MB says as the location "http://winampmb.htm/", and I get an "Action Canceled" page.
I'll try deleting the htm file and leaving the .txt, see what that does... Edit: OK, thanks Atmo. I noticed the winampmb.htm in Template Amp first. Anyway...as for my reuploaded skins...two of them I haven't altered from they're second upload (although I've tried several times to rename them in hopes the database had cleared). One name hasn't left the database in 4 months--I believe it's been 2 months since I reuploaded the skins. (You helped me a bunch on a couple of them :) I figure since the first one to be published on round one a few months ago was the one that got tossed in with the skinner.exe's that the reviewers went through and culled out everything that looked skinner.exe and published them enmasse, and the other skins would have been published later (since they would actually get a review) if I hadn't removed them. Anyway...I was more concerned about the names in the database, because I reeeeeeealy don't want to have a v2 after a skin that was never published to begin with! :) |
The Winampmb only loads automatically if you have a plugin called Mikroamp. Otherwise, you'll have to load it manually in the minibrowser.
You can get Mikroamp.. um.. somewhere. I've never had to call my own office. Someone downstairs will tell you.[/hiddensimpsonsquote] Or just search www.google.com |
That should work, but I cant help you with the db prob, cause i dont review skins...yet. Talk to Atmo, he seems to be the one with the most experience.

OK, I can revise the time estimate. The skins (outside the one I tried to update and messed up) were first uploaded probably in Feb-March, the first to be published was probably April, when I would have registered to try to figure out why it got stuffed with the skinner.exes... The skins were reuploaded possibly a month later, putting it at May...so yeah, two months waiting for publishing (two have been updated before publishing so I didn't expect them up any time soon), but closer to six months waiting for the database to clear so I could rename the skin I messed up when I uploaded. I'd gladly wait another two months for the skins to be published if I could name them properly...silly database... Edit: How do I manually load a file in the Minibrowser? |
To manually load a file just click the open button, click open internet location, and put in the link. If its on your hard drive put in somthing like this

Ah, OK, coo'. Thanky-sai.
