that sounds great! i'd like to see that :)

there has been an exhibition of photographs touring my area this year. some artist had done a similar thing, strapping a camera to a dog's head - lots of images of lamposts, peoples feet and pavements stretching off in to the horizon.... oh, and a few pics of other dog's arses. :D

they made for quite an interesting collection, it's weird to see the world from that perspective.

simon snowflake 9th July 2002 11:29

Atmo 9th July 2002 15:24

Btw, I dont think RAGE is at all like mtv, its not commercial, it plays good music and best of all...Its not video hits (aussies will know what i mean).

Congrats on hitting 3000 simon.

e-raser 10th July 2002 03:27

i'm so in on this. i love working with skining, film and music. HOT DIGGITY DAME!!!!!!
whoooo......
anyhoo what about wa3. i'm right now lossing a skining contest b/c a wa3 skin bulldosed the competition.
if wa3's are alowed then i'm going with wa3.
so are they???

StillWater 10th July 2002 06:23

Hmm, I never thought about WA3. But why not? I think it's a great idea! So yes, e-raser, you may make a WA3 skin if you like :)

Don't worry, WA2 skinners. I'll think of something to make the voting fair for both WA2 and WA3 skins. If there end up being several more WA3 skins made for the competition, I might even make two separate prizes - one for WA2, one for WA3. :)

simon snowflake 10th July 2002 06:28

If you said that a bit sooner.....
But hey I can still change it :D

Atmo, batter late then never right?

e-raser 10th July 2002 14:22

Perhaps you should post that in the WA3 thread as well.

StillWater 10th July 2002 20:02

Another picture you can use

This is the front cover of ORB's latest album, Cydonia. This picture wasn't in the link I provided at the top of this thread.

This is a screenshot. Click here to get the full-size version (hope the link works).

well this is the direction i'm i'm going in for the possible wa3 skin
still i will need a coder to make it happen

StillWater 10th July 2002 20:17

Fantastic. I was hoping someone would make a skin out of those bits. Did you look for a willing coder in the WA3 forum?

so your in the music video bizz. i've been racking my brain on how to gets into the industry in the first place. i'd be doing music video's right now except theres a big problem with getting the education. production and art direction arn't mixed together in any school programs i know.
The basted's always say that the two industries are seperate

Learn as much as possible abouts all facets of filmmaking, or at least of all the ones that interest you. Go to seminars, do short film-courses if you can afford them, go to film school or study cinema/media etc. at University (that's what I did). Save up and buy a decent (not a home-video style if possible) DV camera - at least a small, handy 3-CCD camera. Shoot, edit, shoot, edit, shoot, edit....just keep making films. Any filmmaker will tell you that, technically, there is a real limit to what you can learn in film-school. As with everything else in life, the best way to learn is through your own mistakes and successes. With your own camera and editing station (ie. a good PC with a few affordable additions) the power (at least some power) is in your hands. Just work upwards from there...:)

not in santiago 11th July 2002 04:01

e-raser: My advice to you is to take a film or video production course (you can do some intense night school courses and be done in 6 months, or do the full certified two year bit). You can't really learn how to be creative, but learning about the tools is important. (Plus, it will inspire you further, knowing how much you can do, and will give you industry contact and experience so you can survive financially while pursuing your own personal paths.)

I'd recommend a video production course, because most film is edited digitally these days. Surely there's several places that offer this course in Montreal. If not, there's good schools in T.O. and Vancouver.

(Getting dangerously off topic) Dbleja, how many films have you made? What editing system do you have?

J_Bloggs 11th July 2002 10:53

dbleja, what do you think of the eq sliders? Is it alright to not have that little bar thing working?

Or did you mean the EQ - vis area? that rectangular box with the wavy line graph that changes as you move the sliders up and down? If so: no, you don't need to include that (ie. yes, you may crop it) :)

not in santiago: I use DV-->Firewire-->PC, using Adobe Premiere 6 for editing, and I'm getting After Effects soon. For a 4 minute film, I usually shoot about an hour and a half of footage (sounds ridiculous, I know), and then editing is where the real stuff begins for me. It usually takes me around 60-100 hours of editing for a film. I've completed about 5 films so far, from 4mins to 15mins long , and I've got about 4 or 5 in various stages of development. :)

J_Bloggs 11th July 2002 11:34

Yup that is what I ment. Thats an even better reason to start on the EQ. I've made a pretty good Oxbow Lakes AVS Presets, just gotta tweak it a bit.

Is firewire faster than USB, I forget these things. I which I had more money so I could buy these kinds of interesting things. (who doesn't?)

:winamp:

simon snowflake 11th July 2002 11:36

firewire is WAAAAYYYY faster

No idea. I don't think it matters for video transfer, since it is usually done in real-time (25 or 30 frames per sec) regardless. The speed of the HDD is actually the most important thing here. only 7200rpm or higher can keep up with the camera.

////oh well, looks like firewire is faster. I've heard that some cameras do use USB, though.

simon snowflake 11th July 2002 12:07

maybe this is of help:
http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/firewire-chart.gif

link to article

Jellby 11th July 2002 12:41

USB2 is slightly faster than fireware, or so I've heard. But USB2 is host-master, while firewire is peer-to-peer.

StillWater 11th July 2002 12:58

*ahem*. can we veer a little closer to the topic? :D

simon snowflake 11th July 2002 15:00

so, is there a bit more Orb related art to find? cause there is not very much to choose from actually.

What? In the links and the attachments I provided there are about 70 images to choose from! 70 is not much to choose from? For fuck's sake! Allright, I'll try and find some more...

simon snowflake 11th July 2002 15:23

i know, but most of the images are of very poor quality.

StillWater 11th July 2002 16:27

Better Quality CD Covers

To get very large, very decent quality CD cover images, do a search here (make sure you select "audio CD covers" when you search). Sorry, but the pictures are usually very large, so I can't post them here, and links don't work because of the site layout. Search for one of these:

-Orbus Terrarum (or Orbvs Terrarvm)
-Orblivion
-UFORB
-UFOFF
-aubrey
-Pomme Fritz
-Cydonia
-Ultraworld

Here are some more miscellaneous pictures (apologies to dial-up folks):

simon snowflake 12th July 2002 06:32

i get this message:
http://theistari.homestead.com/files/divers/message.jpg

and if i do it without DAP, it just opens en new window with this page.

J_Bloggs 12th July 2002 10:51

Try: http://freewebz.com/joe_bloggs/oxbow%20avs.zip.

Other wise I'd say freewebz isn't allowing external linking again, despite the fact it works for me.

simon snowflake 12th July 2002 11:23

strange, i still get directed to this thread in a new window :weird:

J_Bloggs 12th July 2002 11:30

Stupid freewebz, I'll sort it out later, at the moment my eyes sore and I'm tired and I can't think of any more reasons to be lazy.

ripe 12th July 2002 13:45

Sorry. I have 56k myself, and the wait wasn't so bad for me, so I figured it'll be ok to post them. The thread should be on a new page soon anyway.
