Problems under Win 2K
I have been streaming under Windows 98 for several years with absolutely no problems. Now, however, having upgraded to Windows 2k Pro, my stream doesd NOTHING but skip. I am running Winamp 2.80 (came with NetScrape 6.2), downloaded the Fraunhoffer codecs (the new Media Player - more on this in a sec) and installed everything. Nothing has changed bandwidth-wise. I am running an Athlon 900 with 256 megs of RAM and a Soundblastger Live sound card and NOTHING else in system tray except for winamp and shoutcast.
Reason for codecs is because I also wanna use Radiospy's DJ tools for live DJ work. Now, however, when Winamp starts playing with the Radiospy DSP loaded it crashes right away. Any help on any of this? It all worked fine under 98 first edition (never got second) Stream is up at http://reality1.dhs.org:8000/listen.pls at 40K (also never a prob before) Just in case ya need it, here are stats on my connection: Layer 2 ATM ADSL Status Online ATM Uplink Rate (bps) 163664 ATM Downlink Rate (bps) 884464 |
Check to see if you have gen_nomad.dll in the plugins folder of Winamp. If you do delete it. Does everything work well if Radiospy's DJ tools aren't in use?

OMG!! Thats the craziest skipping I've ever heard!! hehe I really don't think Win2k is to blame. Sounds like a plugin problem. Since upgrading to win2k my stream is finally stable enough for me to leave town and not have someone come to the house and restart it every day =).
