1) Reduce your signature size to an acceptable level,as defined in here... or it will be removed for you.
2)Keep your off topic post humping to a minimum, or have your access masks edited to exclude you from this forum. Topics naturally drift, if you are derailing them on purpose it will be acted on :)

Thank you, come again.

Cleanup 11th July 2002 23:16

Whoa.

spacefem 12th July 2002 03:02

true, but some people see the smilies only as decoration and don't see the symbolic value. ;)

Cleanup 12th July 2002 13:05

Nah. I used that 'Whoa' for all the BH comments that I read. :D

This thread's gone haywire.

StillWater 12th July 2002 14:56

flatmatt, Simon Snowflake, Mr. Tough guy:
Have you guys made the mistake of telling winamp.com your real address? That's almost undoubtedly what's causing at least a lot of those email viruses. Just get a secondary address and give that one to winamp.com.

I never had a virus email like that in my life until the very same day that my first skin was published here, when I started getting heaps of them every day. About two months ago, I got a new hotmail account and made it my winamp.com account. Since then, I've received about two virus emails to my regular address in the whole two months (ie. practically none) - whereas I need to empty the phony one (which is used for absoultely nothing but winamp.com) once a week or so. So stop whingeing about it, and just change your winamp.com address ;)

J. Burnaway 12th July 2002 15:03

Same problem as the rest of you, mail-wise. Fortunately, I put down my yahoo address. They stop accepting mail after you get up to 7 megs, which I fill up every day. I've quit bothering. I go in from time to time and delete 100-150 emails, and let it fill up again.

Mr_Tough_Guy 12th July 2002 17:05

in the old days I only got the occasional comment about a skin in my mail, then about a year ago, it started with the junk, I've since changed my emailadress at winamp. com (figured that was the problem), but the junk is still pooring in

StillWater 12th July 2002 17:14

Mr. Tough guy, you must be doing something radically different than me with your e-mail address, because I get nothing. I suggest getting a new address and only using it for friends and totally trusted sites, and keeping the current one for the million and one things which ask for your email address.

Saotome 2.0 12th July 2002 20:08

Does anybody like my new sig?

J. Burnaway 12th July 2002 21:49

It's half red with something in small blue letters I can't read, and half blue with something in small red letters I can't read - bright red next to bright blue is kind of hard on the eyes.

Your sig doesn't work for me. If you're talking about your avatar, the colours are a bit harsh. Doesn't really bother me though.

I have an email adress that i only use for publishing here and devart. It's full in 6 hours. Unfortunately it means i cant always get the emails that i'd like to, for example the messages from mike the llama. Also there seems to be a new virus spreading, the attachments are around 40k, and the subject field has fw in it.

Anyone else been getting them?

Mr_Tough_Guy 12th July 2002 22:00

I can read the text in your avatar, it's a bit hard to make out but I figured out it's your name

thought about doing that, but I don't really get much mail from my mates anyway, and I have other email adresses that I use for really important things, still it's a pain

Oh yeah, and like 6 at a time from the same address. Smaller attachments, but more emails - that's what I call progress!

yeah, i started getting bombarded with those about three weeks ago. they came in multiples, like 10 from the same addy, then 10 from another addy. but i'm seeing less of them now. i'm mostly just getting the Klez E 140k crap.

My sig isn't supposed to work. It's supposed to find out how many people actually click on the link.:D

It's not anymore.

flatmatt 13th July 2002 18:21

Well, yeah, I could do that, but I'm still waiting for that fanmail that's bound to come along someday... :D

Anyway, now it would be cool if I could find some e-mail service that I could acces via POP3, but have them reject all e-mails with attachments. Then I could use that for winamp.com. Or something like that. Who knows.

Jellby 13th July 2002 21:32

softhome.net offers free POP3 e-mail, I don't know if you can set up filters, but you should be able to do so in the mail program

flatmatt 13th July 2002 21:51

I'm using Outlook Express. Can't seem to find a filter that filters the messages out before it actually downloads them, though.

flatmatt 14th July 2002 03:50

Holy crud! I just got a fanmail for Meddling Kids! That's one heck of a coincidence... :igor:  :D

Jellby 14th July 2002 09:04

I use pegasus, you can check the mail without downloading and then choose which messages you want to download and which ones you want to delete.
