Nah. I used that 'Whoa' for all the BH comments that I read. :D
This thread's gone haywire. |
flatmatt, Simon Snowflake, Mr. Tough guy:
Have you guys made the mistake of telling winamp.com your real address? That's almost undoubtedly what's causing at least a lot of those email viruses. Just get a secondary address and give that one to winamp.com. I never had a virus email like that in my life until the very same day that my first skin was published here, when I started getting heaps of them every day. About two months ago, I got a new hotmail account and made it my winamp.com account. Since then, I've received about two virus emails to my regular address in the whole two months (ie. practically none) - whereas I need to empty the phony one (which is used for absoultely nothing but winamp.com) once a week or so. So stop whingeing about it, and just change your winamp.com address ;) |
Same problem as the rest of you, mail-wise. Fortunately, I put down my yahoo address. They stop accepting mail after you get up to 7 megs, which I fill up every day. I've quit bothering. I go in from time to time and delete 100-150 emails, and let it fill up again.
in the old days I only got the occasional comment about a skin in my mail, then about a year ago, it started with the junk, I've since changed my emailadress at winamp. com (figured that was the problem), but the junk is still pooring in
Mr. Tough guy, you must be doing something radically different than me with your e-mail address, because I get nothing. I suggest getting a new address and only using it for friends and totally trusted sites, and keeping the current one for the million and one things which ask for your email address.
Does anybody like my new sig?
It's half red with something in small blue letters I can't read, and half blue with something in small red letters I can't read - bright red next to bright blue is kind of hard on the eyes.

I can read the text in your avatar, it's a bit hard to make out but I figured out it's your name

Well, yeah, I could do that, but I'm still waiting for that fanmail that's bound to come along someday... :D
Anyway, now it would be cool if I could find some e-mail service that I could acces via POP3, but have them reject all e-mails with attachments. Then I could use that for winamp.com. Or something like that. Who knows. |
softhome.net offers free POP3 e-mail, I don't know if you can set up filters, but you should be able to do so in the mail program
I'm using Outlook Express. Can't seem to find a filter that filters the messages out before it actually downloads them, though.
Holy crud! I just got a fanmail for Meddling Kids! That's one heck of a coincidence... :igor:  :D
I use pegasus, you can check the mail without downloading and then choose which messages you want to download and which ones you want to delete.
