Controlling winamp from a browser

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the basic commands (such as play, pause, next/prev track etc) from a browser?

Nope. Winamp does not have browser support.

You can control winamp through an html interface page from any browser you chose. Quite easy and there are 3 plugins that do a nice job of it.
