Shuffle, sure , but "I just heard that one".
I have a problem. I shuffle the playlist. I dont use the repeat feature. I use resumer plugin. And yet , out oif 1700+ songs I still will hear a song or 5 that I just heard an hour ago - how can I
A. Play a song only once from a shuffled list, so that each song is played once until the last song is played , and then it either re-shuffles or starts from the top of the list. Obviously all I need to do here is shuffle the list and then turn off shuffling, and then re-save the newly shuffled list, BUT, read next: OR B. Get the (or ANY ) resumer plugin to resume every time the list or Winamp.exe is restarted - the 1st song in the shuffled list is played, every single time I restart Winamp or a playlist! How is this "resuming" from where someone has left off? The resumer plugins only work from Stopping and then pressing Play again, NOT from Closing and then re-opening Winamp. And yet that is exactly how the resumers are billed. That is false 'advert'. If anyone knows of a resumer plugin that will work as advertised or can tell me what I may be doing wrong, I would shout from the rooftops whatever you tell me to! |
Admittedly, the shuffle algorithm used by Winamp is not perfect, but it has been improved, so make sure that you are using the latest version of Winamp.
Go to preferences (CTRL-P) -> options -> shuffle and increase the morph rate. This should increase the "randomness" of the songs. The resumer plugin only saves the state of Winamp now and again so I'm not sure how this ties into your problem, but a quick search returned the Random Shuffler Turner Oner plugin, which allows Winamp to automatically turn shuffle on at a given point in the playlist (so listen to a few songs then shuffle). If you set that given point to be the last song in the list then it *should* play the list, reshuffle it, and play it again (assuming that repeat mode is engaged. |

AKAutoPlay [Component ID: 114493] in the New Plugins section. I closed Winamp, and re-opened it and it actually srted to play where it left off (of course winamp started playing the very first song in the list for 10 seconds - the default X-fade time, though, so not really a big deal). The next test will be if Task Scheduler can not interfere with the AK replayer software. I have Task Sechduler restarrt a playlist every hour, just in case the Winamp she jams up every few days. I say this only because I run a 24/7/360 day internet radio station reporting to CMJ every week, and since Winamp still has memory leaks (yes even 2.80) IT HAS TO BE CLOSED DOWN , AND THEN THE COMPUTER REBOOTS ITSELF (i HAVE ERROR CHECKING SET UP THIS WAY) Sorry about the caps , I tend to look at the keys when I type, and when I realise that I have accidently touched the frog-hair trigger-sensitve Capslock button, that I have just shouted at you all, but I am not going to re-type an accidental mistake. |
screw-up in the plugins page - download it here...

No, I started this thread to get a resumer plugin that would remember the prvious state of winamp upon opening, not just from stop (the latter being very easy to do.). When Task Scheduler starts winamp or playlist the 1st song is always the 1st in the playlist. I don't want shuffle while playing, I just need to manually shuffle the list and re-save it once every week ( I have 1856 songs) to get a more random feel. But, what I do need is a resumer that does what the author syas it will do - resume from a previously Open state. The turner oner does not uninstall, BTW. |
