I assume you're talking about the trapped miners?

I'm quite surprised CNN chose the rescue of the nine miners over the 80 people who died in the Ukranian airshow accident... surely that is more tragic & newsworthy?

I agree. I just saw it on the late news here and it looked pretty bad. Worst airshow disaster ever.

Maybe you should both search before posting. When I checked, the Ukraine Airshow incident was on the front page of the CNN World News section.

I knew it was on the front page on the "World Events" page, I just typed cnn.com and assumed it would come up with the "major" story.

I'm not criticising CNN, they do have an excellent & extensive coverage on the event on their world events section, I just assumed it would have been shown on the main / opening page.

Didn't the Ukranian incident occur before the rescue though?

Also, the missing trapped was an ongoing story over three days. Miners get trapped underground, water flooding in, rescuers working against the clock, miners are eventually brought to the surface one by one and unscathed. Whereas the Ukranian Airshow incident - plane falls out of sky, people get killed, remainder go home.

The simple fact of the matter is that there is more footage to be gotten out of the first story than the second.
