Installing WA3 on linux

OK, I have mandrake linux 8.2 and I'm trying to install WA3 on it. I have tried to just place the files in the .tgz file in the places they need to be but even after I do this it doesn't work. If anyone has any idea please let me know.
Thanks

Beta or RC soon??

Thanks for the info. Do you know when they are going to be comming out with a beta or better of Winamp for linux? I've used WA3 beta for windows for a while and love it but I'm running Linux now and I would love to have WA3 for Linux. Xmms is good but WA3 is just better, not open-source but thats ok I understand.
Thanks
otf
