Getting visualisation plug-ins working outside the default directory

OK, this is probably gonna seem like a newbie question (even though I've been using winamp for a few years now). But I just d/led some replacements for the Geiss visualisation plug-in, and I'm having trouble getting them to work.

Because of disk partitioning (down to my general mistrust of windows), winamp is installed in E:\program files\, and I carefully specified that the plug-ins should go to the correct directory (E:\program files\winamp\plugins\avs\ IIRC). Everything seemed to go smoothly, and I got a whole bunch of AVS files stored in directory with the name of the plug-in, but winamp doesn't seem to see them.

I've tried moving the files around to anywhere that seemed likely on the directory tree, and I've tried setting the preferences to look in various directories (ranging from the dir the files are in, up the tree to the program files dir), but with no luck.

I'm out of ideas. I just d/led the latest copy of winamp today, so that shouldn't be the problem. Additionally, I've installed a bunch of DSP plug-ins w/o any trouble, so I'm feeling confused. Where should I put those AVS files? Am I missing some DLLs? Any input (including pointing me to any other forum topics - I couldn't find anything relevant) is welcome.

Cheers,

Seej

AVSs go in plugins\avs

As for the directory structure, there's really no way to make it use another directory for plugins.
