Anyone have a wireless mouse?

If so, how often do you end up having to change the batteries? We just got ours a couple weeks ago and already it says that the batteries are "critically low". Other than that, the thing seems to work fine, although once in a while it doesn't move right away.

Doesn't this seem to be a ridiculously short amount of time to use the batteries? Can I use rechargeables? Ugh.

I have a logitech cordless mouse, and i bet i don't change my batteries but every 6 months or so. They last forever. I'm not sure what can be causing your problem.

papadoc 11th August 2002 04:40

I've got a wireless mouse...
but you have to keep winding it up...
to keep it running...

I have a wireless mouse, i only change the batteries about every 2 months or so. I use rechargables so I dont have to keep buying more batteries for it.

Trigear 11th August 2002 06:15

i have an optical mouse.

...but i guess that doesn't help you now, does it? :(

I have Logitech cordless mouseman. Batteries lasts about 4-5 months and I use rechargeable batteries. It didn't work through usb so I plugged it to ps2. With adapters naturally. Have worked perfectly since..

zorpidus 11th August 2002 11:07

I've had my Logitech cordless mouse for almost a year and I've changed the batteries twice... So 4-5 months lifetime seems right... I use my mouse quite excessivly and long too, so you might get more use out of them with moderate use...

MetallichicA 11th August 2002 17:27

Well crud. I use the mouse a lot, too, but I didn't think it would drain the batteries THIS fast.

Actually, now that I look, the proggy says the battery level is up to "good" again, so either Chris changed the batteries or something is fudged up.

My cousin has 2 cordless mice and the bsteries last much longer than a couple of weeks. My advice, exchange it for a new cordless mouse or get an optical mouse as they work much better than cordless mice.

I have a cordless/optical mouse from Logitech and I love it. Make sure the mouse doesn't move when not in use because this will eat your batteries.

It IS an optical cordless mouse.

Chris reminded me that the batteries that came with the mouse were the ones he put in, so that's probably what the problem was. I didn't realize he did that; I usually pitch the batteries that come with a product because, obviously, they're usually crap.

my mice have balls

Trigear 12th August 2002 06:13

i have balls. my mouse does not.

[edit] and with these last two posts, this thread has officially gone into the toilet. i was wondering how long it would take... [/edit]

jabaman42 12th August 2002 06:17

i clean my mice balls regularly

Atmo 12th August 2002 06:23

I have a MS intellimouse explorer optical wireless, which has been working fine for the last 4 months without a battery change.

Probably because i hate the thing and have gone back to using my MS intellimouse optical for just about everything...Tho i always have both plugged in, and just pick up the other one when i feel like it.

MetallichicA 12th August 2002 06:25

/me shakes her head sadly and reminds herself to never again start a thread about products that might have balls

y'all are sad ;)

Atmo- that's the mouse we've got; I think (hopefully) the problem was just that the batteries were the ones included with the mouse.

SSJ4 Gogitta 12th August 2002 06:29

I have a mouseless wire.

Possibly, tho here in aus it shipped with good quality batteries, just change em over and see..

As a sidenote, i wouldnt reccomend using rechargables, as AA rechargables are usually 1.2 volts, not 1.5 (test em with a multimeter to check), so they may give poor performance.
