Maybe this should have been in the classic.winamp thread, but oh well.

The question on the table for discussion is: is winamp 2 terminal? Well, of course it is, but how much longer does it have? Already it seems this forum has lost some of its vitality, or am I imagining it? I've heard people say that this forum will continue as long as we'd like it to, but how long will it continue if top-drawer WA2 skins get double digit downloads? I know some of the problem was that there were issues in the changeover to classic.winamp, but are people going to take that extra step to get over to classic, when they can just download WA3?

(Feel free to flame - I understand this might touch a sore spot for some. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing some pro-WA2 energy.)

I think its just your imagination. This forum has always had a few slow days. People are probably going to be too lazy to go to classic winamp, though,

I've noticed that this forum has been a lot slower too, but it started before wa3 was released. I think there will probably be a lot of people downloading wa3 skins, more so than wa2, for a while... but they realize there are problems right now, so we're probably safe. I have a feeling they'll want to work every bug out before sending wa2 down the tubes. I don't personally plan on using wa3; I'll probably try it, but I see no reason for me to switch over. And I almost definitely will not skin wa3.

But give it some time. Once the "brand-spanking-new, oo-look-it's-so-shiny" feeling wears off, people will probably download both about equally. For one thing, there will not be as many wa3 skins, so they will get way more downloads than any wa2 skin ever did, I'll bet. There's no skinner.exe for them (thank goodness). But at the same time, there's enough wa2 skin floating around that they won't be able to get rid of wa2 for a long time (or at least I hope). Sorry if this has been asked before, but I just thought of it and don't want to go looking for it: will they still update wa2?

Oh, they'll update it, alright. I havew a feeling that there are people in this forum that do not want to see Winamp 2 go away for a while, so as long as Justin works for Nullsoft, or until they get to 2.99, there will be a new Winamp 2 for the old-schoolers like us.

I finally submitted my first complete WA2 Skin! Yay! I'll submit it to Winamp.com when I put cursors on it.

Apologies if this thread is too much like dam's. I hadn't clicked on that thread, and sometimes the lack of description in the thread title makes it hard to see if the thread has been done (I'm as guilty as the next person). On top of that, the search function can only take you so far - like google, you can get zero hits or tons, depending on how specific you get. So, if this thread needs to die, so be it!
