umbrella minds skin appeal
umbrella minds skin appeal
(thanks for bearing with me while i learn about how the forum works) Hi, I'm pretty confused about the unpublishing of the skin which I performed myself because somehow it got turned into a different file format and did not look right. It was made for the winamp 2 player and i have not yet learned how to make one for version 3, and if it was uploaded incorrectly then I take responsibility. Well, my skin is a hand-made skin done on Paint Shop Pro 7. I'm still working on it after at least 100 hours of work. Aesthetically, I was inspired by Sumeamp, Major Tom, and a couple of other favorites. Nevertheless, I've never seen a close resemblance between my skin and any other skin out there. Actually, I'm quite curious to know what the alleged ripped skin is. But in order to have an accurate view of the um skin you would have to go to http://www.umbrellaminds.com/download.html or http://www.1001winampskins.com/skin...ml?skin_id=2607 I have all the original files with dozens of layers meticulously labelled. I have the orginal drawing on a paper which I will be glad to scan for you. Finally, I have my client who commissioned the skin, who is most likely willing to clarify the matter. Beyond that, I look forward to hearing more about any particulars or even general appearances that show a rip took place. Thanks -dm :igor: |
The file format hasnt changed, but the database has been having problems.
A rip is a skin that uses components or is a direct copy of someone elses work, if you did it all yourself then there will be no probs. I'm a little confused though, you say you unpublished it yourself, but youre wondering if its a rip?? |
No rip occurred as for as I know. after I was notified of the acceptance of the skin, I downloaded it myself, but when opened it launched v3, messed up, no transparency, the base skin showed for the playlist and whatnot in my long-awaited, freshly published skin v2.8. wrote back to the guys at winamp that my skinned componants belonged in v2Land, but it looked like hell, so I went to my skins area and deleted the skin.
Then later I get an email saying it is a rip and has been unpublished. After marveling at the wonders of modern communication in the forum, I tried to offer an appeal based on what I knew about the thing. Nothing bugs me more than a rip so it is the kind of thing I want know what happened and why it was pronounced a rip. that is all. -dm:) |
You shouldnt have deleted your skin, its a problem with the database, not the skins themselves.
If you post the cid, i'll check it out, your link to 1001 is broken, but i had a look at ubrellaminds, and it looked ok to me. In case you dont know how to find out the Component ID, just go to your submission page, find the skin where its listed as unpublished, hold your mouse cursor over the edit or delete link and look in the status bar of your browser. At the end of the link there should be 5 or 6 numbers. Thats the component id. |
okay
Thanks for your rapid reply. I will check these pointers asap. -dm;)

componant id
Hi Atmo,
The componant ID is 115987. The skin id was in my skin resources, as you said, when I dragged the cursor over edit/delete, but no picture of it there. I want to resubmit for winamp 2 only. I will try to do this asap. Why should I not have deleted it and why is the componant ID relevant? Thanks -dm |
