my shortlist
I posted this originally on the wa3 bitch thread:) but DJEgg suggested I throw it here. Here goes- sorry if I'm mentioning things that have already been mentioned, but I wanted this to be complete.
J vs. F3 1. F3 toggles a docked menu bar (or whatever you'd like to call it). thus, it's not a keyboard shortcut. if the menu is already open, the only way I know of so far to get to that menu by way of the keyboard is to hit F3 twice (to untoggle and retoggle). It'd be nice if there were a key (hopefully closer to my fingers- 'j' is right under my right index finger) I could press where I could instantly jump to a song (I hate using my mouse to focus on a small text field). 2. I usually keep the playlist selection/loaded playlists sidebar hidden. It'd be nice if it jumps open as soon as I start using the 'select' menu bar, or perhaps if I hit "enter" after typing. I was pretty confused after typing in the search bar without seeing anything. 3. with 'J' I had instant gratification- type in some characters, press enter, and the song starts playing. I like instant gratification. enqueue as default action when "enqueue" is default, 'open/play' functions like 'add'. The only reason I have enqueue as default action is because I don't want to double-click on a file in Explorer and lose my playlist- I like adding to the existing playlist. I really think that 'open/play' should remain 'open/play'; otherwise, I have two buttons on my playlist that do the same thing. functionality of the 'play' button I haven't been able to reproduce this every time, but sometimes when I hit 'play' in the middle of a song, it goes to a different song. this happened on a relatively large playlist (450 songs) in shuffle mode. WA agent and the system tray my WA2 setup was such that the only constant visual WA icon was the agent icon in the sys tray- all 'winamp' processes could be closed and I could still go through the agent. Now, if I close all winamp processes, the agent is still running, but I don't see any way to get to it. That's if I don't show the winamp icon... but if I do show the winamp icon, I get two icons (as when the icon is hidden, it's the agent icon that's hidden not the 'studio' icon). file info Again, WA2 had (imho) a nicer approach, where I could see everything at the same time. At times I would use the file info (ALT+3) window to find out the name of the file- now I can't select+scroll in the text box, so if the filename is too long, I can't see it. It'd be nice if I could either resize the file info window so I can look at the entire filename or be able to select text in the filename box so I can get a scroll effect in order to look at the entire filename. media library I still haven't figured out the difference between "search for" and "query". and sometimes I get a song to show up in the results 3 times, and sometimes I get results that I shouldn't have gotten (for example, the 'o brother where art thou' listing for me turns up '8stops7'). so that's a bit buggy, it seems. If I should be posting anything else anywhere else, lemme know. |
