Some Probs

I'm really sorry but i really tried about every version of Winamp3. The version that's on my pc right now is called "final" wich I think could at best be called a mistake.

By now I decided to use Winamp2 again cause whatever I am using Winamp3 for it just sucks.

For example MP3 files:
As far as I could see I'm not the only one that couldn't play some MP3s anymore that I can listen to with Winamp2. It's not just one or tow but a whole bunsh of it.

Video:
If the Video is showing up at all, wich it doesn't do all the time it has great problems with sound-synchronisation wich often lets the video stop before it ends just because the player thinks the sound is at its end.

I also have some Videos that are somewhat buggy at some places. With other players I could move on some frames to go on but Winamp simply denies to play. I even have to restart Winamp to watch again.

I really thought that this player is the allround player I needed but by now the bugs make it impossible to use it.

Geez...

Winamp 3 is brand new. The "Final" means it is out of beta phase but doesn't mean that there are no bugs whatsoever. If you've used Winamp 2 in the past you should know that Nullsoft constantly came out with new, less buggy versions. It is completely unreasonable to expect a program to work perfectly across every platform and in every situation on its debut. Did I forget to mention that it is FREE?
Complete arrogance is what this is. Oh well, why do I care what you think anyways.
...later...

first off I must Say the WA3 is a very nice program...I do prefer WA2 currently do to a faster interface...but I am convinced WA3 will be great.

I have only one thing to say...The Video function is gr8 but, it needs better Error Contol.

I played one standard VCD MPEG in both WMP 8.0 and WA3...and there were slight errors in both...but WA3 lost audio sync when WMP did not.

Thank you for the time, everyone and Nullsoft.

I just meant this to be some kind of error report. If you want to take this as a personal attack ... be my guest.

I was just dissapointed about this version. It took so long till it was called final and there are some things that worked in Winamp2 but not in Winamp3. If it's not ready it should not have been released yet. This will cause many people to think that Winamp3 is just not worth it and believe me: with my first impression I was far from being alone. If the Music could be played without any problems and the rest would have been somewhat buggy it wouldn't have been a real problem but by now I can't use it in any way. So would you call it "final"?

Do you see anything wrong with this statement? And I quote:

"If it's not ready it should not have been released yet. This will cause many people to think that Winamp3 is just not worth it and believe me: with my first impression I was far from being alone."

Am I missing something here? What operating system are we running? Could we just replace Winamp3 with Windows? You are correct that you are not the only one having problems but I suspect that there are many others that are not having problems. I have it installed on a 233 with 64 megs of ram. With the exception of slower startup time it runs flawlessly. On my 1.4 AMD with 512 megs of DDR it is faster than Winamp2 it’s in the setup. When enough time passes these issues will be fixed on a commonality will be revealed. Any new release of a product has issues as is apparent if you take the time to look at other product forums. Don't get me wrong because I have had some issues. After using it for about a week the AVS has crash once. Opacity doesn't seem to work properly on either machine. But these are minor issues that when I have the time will address. These minor issues are far less annoying when looking at the improvements. Keep up the good work WINAMP.
:D

I'm sorry. I just thought that these details could be found in my profile. Must have been another Forum.

I have an Ahtlon 900 MHz, 256 MB Ram, Windows XP and a ELSA Gladiac 517 if this is any help.

If I would have been the only one with these specific problems I would just expect this is because of my configuration or something but as far as I know there are about 5 friends of mine who tried to install Winamp3 and had EXACTLY the same problems that I have. The are PCs with Win98, WinME, Win2000 and WinXP with all differnet configs. So to me this seemed to some major problem that didn't seem to be easily missed.

I still think that Nullsoft is doing a great work on their product an there was no Player that could catch up with Winamp2 but with Winamp3 it just seemed to me that everyone wanted to put as much extras in it without really testing if it really worked. But hey .. I know that those things happen first but winamp2 had no problems with my MP3 .. winamp3 DOES ... seems to me like beeing more than just a "we did a brand new thing an haven't found a solution jet" thing. It did work ... why doesn't it now?

It's just that Winamp was in Beta status for about half a year and still there are some bugs like this that seem to affect many people.

Nullsoft did more than a great job till now so I just was somewhat dissappointed to face those problems. I hope they will be solved soon.

After all this seems to be becoming the best allaround player!
