Try disabling the encoding by using /HEADER...

Try disabling the encoding by using /HEADER "Accept-Encoding: none" in your INETC command. This should tell the server not to use content encoding as the client doesn't support it.

Here's an modified version of the large string makensis.exe with stack size set to 8 MB. I used EDITBIN from the VC++ toolset to change the stack size.
