We (humans) can detect beats automatically the is no reason in theory why we have to write a different beat detection algo for each musical style.

Intersting we all want a magic bullet :) but with the oscalition methods it appears more often then not that it is all analog or variable like where in the real world a 'beat' is digital or Boolean...

I know that we cannot get perfect 'beat' detection.

Speaking to Gordon WIllaim the creator of the R2/Extreme plugin about implementing beat detection in his forthcoming R3...and failing.:)
