Ok, each of those sliders represents a frequency range. Moving the slider up causes that range to be amplified more. Moving it down, less. The bars on the left side are lower, more bass oriented...

Hmm that's strange I had that problem with an ealier version but it is fixed now. Is it a multi-mode CD? i.e. the first track is data and the rest audio(some progs/cd players don't like those CD's)?...

acutally Jcocks, those files on the CD are not the actual music, they are just representations of the audio track. You must use a ripper to read the track and create an MP3 file.
