Do you have Windows XP Hotfix KB887742...
Do you have Windows XP Hotfix KB887742 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887742) installed. If so, uninstall and see if that works? Found some information that can cause skipping every 15 seconds.

same problem - skipping every 15 secs
I am having the exact same problem. I am using the same following components:
Realtek AC'97 and Legacy Audio Drivers and Audio Codecs
Windows XP Professional
I notice the skipping is about...
