Followed your thread, tried all suggested fixes, except updating drivers. None seem to help. System is a high end Sony Viao Notebook, only one year old, drivers couldn't be that far off !!! ...

I fixed the spectrum analyzer by changing the CDDA.DLL input plugin to CDREADER.DLL.
Now it skips.
