I've got Labtec 4.1 speakers. They kinda suck, but they aren't too expensive. You can only hear bass and treble, but very little mid-range sound. Also the real low basses are missing.

It's easy to detect errors by a cd-ripper. So switch to another cd-ripper immidiately, when you heavily distorted sounds which shouldn't be there.
It's a bit more harder to hear differences in mp3...

Those are badly encoded mp3s. Seeking in these mp3 will not work correctly. The length of the mp3 is not known, so the average bitrate can't be calculated by Winamp, thus the bitrate will fluctuate....

Another reason not to download any 128kbps mp3s. Man, the quality of 128kbps mp3s is getting worse and worse. I mean the average 128 kbps doesn't sound good because it's:
A) just 128 kbps
B)...
