Hmmm... My puter likes to freeze when someone calls me while I'm offline. I've got an external 56k. When the phone rings, my puter stops until the ring ends... then it's ok until the next ring, then it stops until the ring ends... then it's ok... and so on until the phone either stops ringing or someone answers the phone. Wierd.
