If you saw the police officers out of uniform, you wouldn't know that they're cops, except that they are in pretty good shape. They don't have that cocky douche-bag attitude, and most don't have the tell-tale haircut. They're more into 'corrections' than they are into 'punishment'. A lot of issues are solved without an actual punishment, but rather with a safe armed moderator, especially when it comes to issues cops hate the most - domestic disputes. It sounds like your area is a little overboard. I guess I'd get sick of that too.
