In most states that I am aware of (friends and family - midwest and New England), 10 over will get you ignored, 11 over might get you pulled over by a young cop, warning if you're cooperative, $125 if you're a douche, 15 over will get you about $150 without warning by just about any cop. Some states get rough though with the dollar amount because they gouge you. Look at
Virginia. You could get a $3462.00 fine just for speeding. I have to drive in that state a couple times per month. Luckily it's been many years since I've been pulled over for any reason, other than those DUI road blocks that check everyone.
