An open letter from President Putin to US citizens

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/12/op...-on-syria.html

While arming the Assad regime and turning a blind eye to killing by WMD's, Vladimir Putin cautions Americans in this open letter dated September 11th. I think he could have picked a better day.

If there is a military operation which supports US and allied security interests, it should occur. Not because Obama made a threat. If we know where these weapons are, we should take them out. If we don't know where these weapons are, we should find out and take them out.

It might not be prudent for the US to support the rebels in Syria at all. That needs to be undertaken with a clear goal. The primary goal is US security interests, not some crusade to Democratize the Syrians. The Russians are arming Assad and I don't know if I can really blame them. Syria is on their border and radical Islam is noisy.

We probably wouldn't like a Syrian democracy any better than the Russians would.
