I'm talking about making $3-$4K a month, which is just about where a guy could get by. We're in a recession. If you were established, you got hurt. If you weren't, good luck. Painting? I know a couple painters. They're low balling everything to get the work. Construction isn't it right now. If you want job security, consider nursing.

I was talking to one of my painter friends yesterday, He would have hired me if he could afford it. He's having enough trouble finding work for himself. I usually get some side work from some guys I know. Not since 2008.

If you were making $150,000 a year and kept your job, you came out unhurt. Everybody else is screwed.

I think this is the first time the US has had a recession that left the 1% almost completely unscathed. My brother is like that.
