In December many families will buy again conifers, especially fir trees. On the 23rd December they will decorate them, on the 24th December they will celebrate. At first the parents will cook, the people will eat, then they will visit the church (if they go to a church), and they will unwrap gifts in the evening. In January the conifers will be brought to the streets-edges, then the junk cars will pass. Families with an own garden could buy little conifers in flower pots, and later they could plant them in their gardens. It is always sad for me to imagine, that so many little conifers are killed with the ax & saw for the 24th December.
In November a big Nordmann fir will be brought to the Breitscheidplatz in Berlin-Wilmersdorf-Charlottenburg, the little sale cottages will be built, and then the funfair will be open.
Alt-Rixdorf in Berlin-Neukölln is more unique. The last time I forgot to post this link:

And it doesn't need to be always big and commercial. For me it has become already a tradition to visit Alt-Rixdorf in December every year. This time it will be from 6th December until 8th December.
But Alt-Rixdorf is a very beautiful place also in the other months. 1 of many addresses is behind Alt-Rixdorf, and if I want to visit this address, then usually I walk through Alt-Rixdorf. They have many beautiful little houses in this environment, and these houses look much better than the big apartment houses, of course. I could imagine to live also there, if we would have to move some day...
