Here's a little tidbit I picked up. I bought this bottle of "no water" dog shampoo. All the pooches around me are itchy. I suspect Demodectic (caused by more or less normal dog mites) Mange. BB itches a little. The neighbor dogs are to varying degrees tore up. $8 bucks a bottle seemed like it was an awful lot, so I did a little reading and a little testing.
It looks like what this is:
5% baby shampoo. 5% OTC hydrogen peroxide (1.5% solution). 90% water. Soak them to the skin, wipe it off.
The baby shampoo should clog up the spiracles (lungs) of the mites. The peroxide is to PH correct the solution to be a little more alkaline matching the PH of this dog shampoo and a dogs more alkaline skin.
No itchies. No midnight "thump thump thump".
Better living through chemistry.
$8 a bottle. I am in the wrong business.
