Moderator relaying important message to all new posters

If your technical problem is of a more potentially tricky nature or is Windows / system related, you will get a much quicker and more accurate reply if you include all your relevant system specifications.
We especially need to know your:
CPU + Clock Speed | RAM | Windows OS | Soundcard | Winamp version.
    If relevant, also include:
Videocard | Internet connection / modem type / any proxy info | Browser type + version | DirectX version | plus anything else you think might help, eg: a list of any third party / extra Winamp plugins you've installed, plus a list of the ones you are currently using | a list of any background or foreground programs you are concurrently running that may be causing any conflicts.

Without this essential info, we (the forum moderators + members) can only speculate as much as our "psychic plugins" will allow.

    Important:

If it seems obvious to me that a new poster has either:
    1. Not read the FAQ
    2. Not checked out the announcement & sticky links at the top of the forum.
    3. Not looked in the "Tech Supports Greatest Hits" Forum,
    particularly TSGH -> Useful Links
. . . then I have decided that I will NOT be answering their post whatsoever. Maybe this might seem a bit harsh, but that's the way it's gonna be. Of course, other moderators & members may well choose to differ, and that's totally up to them.
My motives here should be self explanatory so I won't go into it any further.

Thankyou for your co-operation & understanding.

    Very important

Oh yeah, and please also include full details of any error messages you receive. However, you don't have to include all the stack dump info etc.

    [oops . . . initial oversight]

Maybe its time to join the Tech Support Greatest hits and the FAQ together. I think many people don't read them because they don't have time to.
Some people may think to read one and forget the other.
Also, one can mistake the forum FAQ for the Winamp FAQ!

we've been thinking of doing TSGH:Offline... it'd be in chm (Compiled HTML Help), and would be TSGH, the FAQ, and the documentation all in one. But... I'm to lazy to really work on it.

Yes, sounds good to me, as long as all the other mods agree.

You might consider just getting the FAQ indexed into a set of frames, where the left frame contains the questions, and the right is the contents page, if it's light enough, people might 'consider' downloading that, especially if you call it a help file. =)
Seriously, when I launched into Javascript programming, I knew nothing about the language, (still don't really understand it), and have yet to buy a book.
But, to help me out, I went by developer.netscape and found downloadable versions of their Javascript manuals, and now I got them on my machines.
                It Helps!

It's a shame that newbie posters still aren't taking any notice then, isn't it?!

I didn't until I read your post rocker I just presumed it was started May 2002.

Still get confused with those silly AMerican date format.

Ummh I wonder the forums have the different time zone set for everyone now can they sort the date format out too........

Yeah I always mis-read the dates on stuff too - like obviously for us in the UK, today is 02-06-02, so to us it looks like the date on this post is the 6th of Feb....
