While I agree that people elsewhere would be happy carrying change, and while I think having nice coins are interesting, I just don't think I'd use them often.

You're right though, I shouldn't really be arguing on a thread that isn't really meant for coin vs. paper.

It amazes me how many times the coin dollar has changed in my lifetime compared to other coins. I was born in 1978 when the coin dollar was the Dwight Eisenhower dollar. Then it it was resized to become the Susan B. Anthony Dollar, then there were a few years where I don't think any coin dollars were available. They then brought back the Susan B. Anthony Dollars. Then the gold colored Sacajawea dollar in 2000 became something commonly found as change when buying stamps from a machine. Now they're doing presidents. I can't keep up.
