Do your self a favor and uninstall the evil OuickTime as siebe83 suggested. Unless you want to listen/watch QuickTime formats I don't think it is necessary to install the QuickTime Alternative.
After going through QT's options to try and find an answer for you, I was hit by the same issue your are having. MP3s from the internet were playing in the QT browser plug-in instead of Winamp. This happened in Firefox and IE. Like you MP3 was not selected in the QT 'Browser plug-in' & 'File Types' settings. I uninstalled the evil QT crap from my system and I am a very happy camper now.
