In the long long long term, we may have to replace wasabi.dll with our own version. We're hoping we won't have to. Lone is still working to get it open-sourced.

An interesting idea to use 3d acceleration. However, the longhorn system probably wouldn't be used. Remember, one of the goals of Wasabi is to be platform independent. OpenGL would be a much more likely candidate.

BTW, have you tried the more recent builds of wasabi.player? they really don't use that much cpu. I'm assuming your concern on the issue comes from the cpu-hoarding winamp3.
