Another "Awakenings" thread I see. Good to see you all here. I haven't seen Joel in a while either, but now he's here. Lain, You must have become inactive before I signed up; I don't remember you, but welcome back anyway!

I too got married back in July '07. I love it. No kids though - still trying to find a job that will keep me a while. I've had great jobs, but have been laid off a lot forcing me to go on big relocating moves. Hopefully this one will work out and I can grow some roots. My wife and I are high school counselors in rural Iowa.

I'd love to find a job out in the country.

Anybody know where places like this actually are?

I suspect the real issue is finding IT work out in the middle of nowhere.

I'll leave your thread alone now, missy.

No such luck here - All you see are cornfields - all flat, mostly no trees.

The place where I grew up in rural Pennsylvania was absolutely gorgeous though.

That would be okay, too. I'm getting sick of Long Island.

Baxter located in Boulder, CO looks somewhat like that. Well, it's a city and you can see the snow covered mountains in the distance.

I was out at their blood subs group (which essentially is the Boulder facility) a few times when I worked for their injectables division in Chicago.

Baxter was always massive on IT, so there you go.

I'm all done with school. I got my BFA. I'm back in upstate NY working at a Real Estate company doing their graphic design. I also started up a little business for my illustration work. It's going really well! I just partnered up with a construction company drawing up their house plans.

...and ones that pay really well in Antarctica too. I have a cousin (in-law) down there washing dishes at a dining hall. He pays nothing for rent or utilities, gets paid more than I do, and only works about 6-8 months a year and spends the rest of the year with his family where he grew up, during which time he finally gets to spend all that money he saved up while down there. I'm sure a decent IT guy down there is anything but poor.

Antarctica doesn't look like the Alps though.

Hey, K. What's wrong? Fall on The North Shore(LI) is beautimous. Sure, the peple are rude as hell, they are all full of themselves, and it cost a fortune to live in a shack...but it is beautiful.
