Hi,

Yep, I worked it out.

A combination of...

GetDevice()->SetRenderState( D3DRS_POINTSCALEENABLE, true );

...and...

// finally, create the device:
if(FAILED(hRes = m_lpD3D->CreateDevice(
ordinal_adapter,
D3DDEVTYPE_HAL,
m_hwnd,
//(m_caps.DevCaps & D3DDEVCAPS_HWTRANSFORMANDLIGHT) ? D3DCREATE_MIXED_VERTEXPROCESSING : D3DCREATE_SOFTWARE_VERTEXPROCESSING,
D3DCREATE_SOFTWARE_VERTEXPROCESSING,
&m_d3dpp,
&m_lpDevice ) ) )

...did the trick.
