i personnaly use spybot and adaware's registry protectors (spybot's teatimer and adaware's ad watch) and then use zonealarms security suite for virus protection for the major viruses (updated daily) and firewall use now there is blackice (no longer selling) firewall that is better but its real strict (if you have it)
and on top of all the antivirus/firewall software i have zonealarm's forcefield (which you can get free on august 12th) which creates a virtual environment for you browser and also uses anti phishing technology to warn you on bad sites
