Yeah, an engine swap is the least of my worries, can do it with my eyes closed. Problem is twofold - 1) unless it's a Toyota or a Holden, car parts prices here are a joke. A secondhand motor here for my truck is more expensive than a new motor and all the trimmings back home. 2) To get a car brought back from the outback into civilisation round these parts quite often costs more than the car is worth. To give an example, a 200km tow to Alice Springs along the Stuart Highway costs in and around $1000. That's on highway blacktop. Get stuck on the old stock routes, or worse still, off road completely, and you're putting someone elses kids through college for the cost of getting it back.
