My apologies DJ Egg, you misread my tone. Not trying to be a jerk, just trying to explain my point of view as I think you may be misunderstanding me. If this would be easier to talk about over email let me know.

Did you read my post!? I am reporting inverted behavior between these very two objects. The Local Media SmartViews and the Playlists do not perform the same way given the same action.

Well actually, I know for a fact these options DO affect Rip & Burn, but I understand now that they were not built to do so ... just an unintended side affect. I agree that when it comes to Rip & Burn, Online Services, Dashboard, Now Playing, Bookmarks, Portables, or Wire this would be a feature request.

But what I'm logging is an issue with Local Media and Playlists
as it relates to the "Double Click or Enter Options"

      No, you've lost me

The post you linked to in your previous reply relates to a comparison between the "Double Click & Enter" behaviour in Local Media and Rip & Burn.

If it's one of the posts further down in that thread, then my brain started to hurt after about the 2nd or 3rd post ;-)

Using build 1195, my (no album) view in the ML still shows nothing. Says I have 322 tracks with no album but doesn't show any of them when I click it under Albums. This is using a Smart View for all files ending in .mp3 with a Genre/Album filter.

Also get nothing when using the "Audio" view.

Here's my plugins incase I'm using an old version of something:

          Yup. Reproduced.

Strangely enough, I don't remember having this problem before it was supposed to be fixed :-D

            Benski:
Ended up being a compiler bug (ergh!) It will be fixed in 5.34
            Yay! Great job.

Any way to get this out pre-release so the Vista 64 beta testers can see if recording works across all available environments?

              Additional Notes

Re: GDI+ video rendering for Windows Vista:

This is now the default rendering mode under Vista (which afaik, is the only OS to support GDI+ by default / out-of-the-box).

You can force GDIPlus rendering on other OS'es by using the following setting in winamp.ini:

              video_gdiplus=1

Note: the default setting is video_gdiplus=0

ie. video_gdiplus is an override to use it on something other than Vista.

If GDI+ fails to load it'll then try overlay mode and then try ddraw mode.

              ____________________________________________________________

              Re: * Improved: [ml_local] Unicode drag+drop and Send-To support:

You can now drag+drop (or use the Send-To menu) to send unicode filenames/titles from the Local Media views to:
              -ML Playlists
-Rip & Burn (CD Burner on X

Alas, ml_bookmarks and ml_pmp still don't support unicode, but support is planned for 5.35 or later (along with ml_history)

For ml_playlists, you need to make sure that the stored Media Library Playlist was created with 5.33 or later, because playlists created with older versions were stored as ansi .m3u, whereas they are now stored as unicode .m3u8

              ______________________________________________________________

              Build 1239 specific issues

The cursor doesn't change for drag+drop from Local Media views to Pledit *

Show Info button doesn't disable properly when unchecking it in Prefs *

Classic Pledit window flicker/redraw bug when dragging external windows over it *

Shift/Ctrl+Enter not working in JTF window *

Typing unicode chars into JTF search not working *

              * = fixed internally

              • just updated to Beta 4...

                - the "Show Info" button in the ML smartviews remains even if the box to display it is unchecked in the preferences. the button disappears when it is clicked, but returns when another smartview is loaded.

                - in Portables->Ipod, hitting the E key still pops up the "Edit Item Info" without CTRL

                - also in Portables->Ipod, the container that holds the song info in the main smartview (not the playlists) seems to be a bit longer height-wise than it should be and covers up the bottom portion of the window. in the attached file, the left shows what it looks like once the smartview is loaded. the right shows what happens if the scrollbar is clicked.

                  Thanks for the update.

But, track update bug for CD, (just updated from CDDB) is still there (see the screenshot).

Also, still gaps between tracks with Sonic engine. Not sure though what that engine is and do I want to use it or not.

Finally there is some minor problem with screen refresh (see the screenshot). It appears when there is more than one track in the playlist (ok with one track only).

                    @ fashizzle

The "Show Info" bug is probably related to the "various media library resize flicker fixes", and will hopefully be fixed for 5.34 Final. Thanks.

I'll leave the pmp_ipod issues for Will/Benski to comment on
(sorry, I don't have an iPod)

                    @ composer

We still can't reproduce your cddb problem.
Not unless you've got "read metadata when files are played" checkmarked in Prefs > Titles, which is then expected behaviour, and you should change it to "read metadata when files are loaded" instead.

The "gaps" issue is still listed in the known issues section of the first post in the thread.

If you uncheck "Use Sonic engine" in Prefs > Plugins > Input > in_cdda > config, then Winamp will attempt to use ASPI or SPTI (native WinNT SCSI pass-through interface) for CD playback instead, and gapless playback still works ok with those.

I'm not sure about the "screen refresh" problem, but I think that one's been around for many years with the classic skin (eg. when you drag another/external window over it).
[edit] Okay, it looks like it's related to the latest ml resize flicker fixes, and should be fixed for 5.34 Final.

                      I'm experiencing a strange problem with out_ds.dll
I've isolated to something going on between out_ds.dll and DirectX. What happens, when using out_ds.dll as the output plugin, the sound gets distorted but it's only noticeable on select tracks and when there is a difference it is quite noticeable. When using out_wave.dll or out_gapless.dll it sounds normal. When played in Media Player Classic configured for DirectShow it sounds normal as well.

When looking at the nvmixer, when looking at it's spectrum analyzer and vu meters, the sound and volumes look very different. The right channel for example hardly shows up at all (which makes no sense since i can hear it). When using any other before mentioned output methods sound looks normal.

I tried installing an older version of out_ds.dll by getting an early copy of 5.1 but that version had the same problem. It's probably some weird state of DLL hell, exasperated by a funky DirectSound implementation in out_ds.dll, twiddling with out_ds.dll's settings did nothing (of interest to this bug).

It's a Realtek ALC850, and it's DirectX 9.0c (4.09.00.0904); I have the latest versions of my drivers installed. Because of this i've switched to the gapless output (So the volume isn't controling the wave volume).

No problems running the latest preview, but I though I should mention this little spelling error.

So far the latest preview works great with the pmp_ipod. Excellent work! I was able to sync all of my files and no crash at the end. Beautiful!

Only error that I have seen so far is that when you try to delete a playlist, it still crashes.

Under your ipod, if you right click a playlist,
choose 'Remove Playlist' or 'Remove Playlist and Files'
then winamp crashes and does not delete the playlist or the files.

                            Beta4 (Build 1239)

Hey.. I just downloaded 5.34 Beta4 and im impressed. The "Jump to file" bug when pushing arrow down after searching is fixed (very good).
But some bugs are not fixed yet (like the "TV Button" in the video window etc..) But the beta4 version is working great so far.

                            Good Work developers. =)

It would be nice if someone could confirm whether CD Burning is fixed on Windows Vista, and also if video playback is any better using GDI+ (also on Windows Vista).

I'm not sure if this is a bug, intended behavior, or what. But, with any newly imported MP3 file, the Media Library will give it an Album Artist even when the band tag is empty. When you look at the file information, the Album Artist field is empty. Seems like the Media Library just assume's that an empty album artist/band tag should be the same as the Artist/Trackartist within it's views. Just makes it a little confusing when trying to determine if songs have an empty Album Artist(band) field or not.

I do like the fact that an Album Artist field is now there and that Winamp will fill it in during ripping.. I have a number of compilation/mix CDs that have a main mixing DJ and then each Track has it's own artist. I've attached an image to show what I mean.

Oh yeah, using version beta 1239 now and can confirm that the (no album) view does work now.
